Tonight over Ankeny I saw some bright orangish colored flickering light in the sky at just before 8 pm. It was generally moving from the southeast to the northwest. Anyone know what this might have been? Just looked different because of its color and since it was sort of flickering a little bit.

Was it burnt orange? Is this a joke about the Longhorns coming to Ames?

Likely a Chinese lantern. Basically a candle in floating sack.
