Rashad vaughns AAU coach.
Do any of these guys know anything about defense?
Try reading it
I had no idea Doc Sandler was only Director of Basketball Ops at Kansas. I thought he was a full fledged assistant there. Doc would be an absolute world series walk off grand slam.
Seriously. But not really seriously. But kinda seriously.
I think Sadler is the best choice of those you listed. If that happens I will sadly miss yelling at Grimace every time he started barking at referees.
I'll be curious if Fred is more interested in finding a recruiter or a bench coach. IMO having someone with high major coaching experience (either assistant or head) should be the priority.
Reading is for losers!
Either Wayne Morgan or Fran Mcaffery. Both could use promotions.
But seriously, Morgan, Lutz, and Sadler wouldn't make me too mad.
The last two would be grossly underwhelming. Lutz I'd bet is just a dream. Sadler would be a home run hire.
Did you ever watch a Nebraska game when Sadler was coaching? The only thing they did really well was harass the hell out the opponent.
What about Bill Carmody?
Id be on board with Sadler. Grind them down on Defense. Fred's spread run and gun offense =
I'd say none of the four. at Iowa State we need solid recruiters, none of those guys bring that to the table. Even though TJ's position did a little less recruiting than in the past. Did Sadler get promoted at KU after Dooley left?
I want a bulldog recruiter and wants to be a bulldog recruiter. Fred can come up with gameplans.
Sadler is the home run hire. Carmondy is an interesting suggestion too. I'd even be happy with a guy like Todd Lickliter. In this case I think Hoiberg should be looking for a defensive guy with head coaching experience that will be a coach first and a recruiter second.
I agree. Recruiting was Otz's biggest attribute in my mind and the biggest hole he will leave when he is gone. I like what Fred has become in the Xs and Os category. A Doc Sadler was needed more 2 years ago here than now. What we need now is a hardcore recruiter. Sadler is definitely not that guy.
I would like to see us replace a young great recruiter with another young great recruiter. We'll be fine coaching wise as long as Fred is here but you can never have too many outstanding recruiters on the staff. I would be fine with Sadler only because we already have a potential superstar recruiter in the making in Matt A.
Somebody with good recruiting experience in the Chicago area would be nice
