It seems to me the role of the Assistant Coaches for Chizik will be different from McCarney. I could be wrong...but my obversations are that Mac pretty much let his coaches run their dept both in practice and in games. He was not engaged in decision making, was not in huddles at critical times and acted as a manager. I'm not trying to be critical, just make a comment. I believe that Chizik will be much more involved in all aspects of coaching, and will run the games. He needs coaches that do what he wants, and answer to him. Mac was dependent on the quality of Asst. coaches he hired...as went Barney Cotton, so went the offense and so on. I think Chizik will "train" his coordinators, and if they leave, the system will prevail and new parts will do just as well. He will be in the mold of a Belecek or Parcells. That may be why ISU fortunes went down when people like Looney left. We'll see with Chizik, but that's my read. I'd be interested in others thoughts on this.
