My name is Robert and I am getting married in Austin on 11/10. As part of my wedding plans, I have some hotel blocks for my guests. Well, they are not all going to be used and (in hopes of avoiding paying a penalty) I wanted to see if I could let any Cyclone fans know that the could book these rooms at a cheaper price than they are probably getting from the hotel directly. I have 20 rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown (both king and double rooms) and 5 rooms at the Embassy Suites Downtown/town lake for only $189 a night for both Friday (11/9) and Saturday (11/10).

All you have to do is email me at r_balls74@hotmail.com to let me know you are interested and then I would forward them the booking info.

I will be losing this room block on 10/19 and will have to pay for the rooms. there is no reason why the hotel should get paid twice for the same room. Let me pass along saves to all the Cyclone Fans out... I hate UT, you guys need to smoke them...

    Thanks.

    Rob

Did you have an attrition clause in the booking agreements?

So you're not a Cyclone but you want Cyclone fans to help you book rooms within your wedding block so you don't lose money? (Last time I checked you don't pay for unused rooms the block just ends.)

    I'll get right on that......

Generally for a hotel to contract a block of rooms the client has to agree to at least 80% pickup, since it's a Texas home game weekend it likely is 100% of the room block. However, the hotel may have clauses if he drops it early enough to resell the rooms and not bill him, or they did it as a courtesy block because weddings 85% of the time never pickup their contracted total and he actually isn't on the hook.

Also, the hotel may not have even held that many rooms anticipating him not picking them up, I just doubt they told him that.

Yep... if we don't get atleast 75% of the rooms booked, we have to pay for them and then they take them back and re-sell them. So they get paid twice. What happened is my new bride to be signed the contract before reading it. So I saw it later, read it, then tried to immediately cancel it, but marriott would'nt let me. So now I'm stuck with extra rooms I don't need.

If you're on the hook for these rooms then.. and we now know it, perhaps you'd be up to negotiation- going half-in on the room (paying $100\room is better than being stuck paying $200)
