These are a few.. None of the sports facilities had damage. Just part of campus, and then some new houses around a new golf course in town.

At least this happened in a population sparse area at the time. And it didn't rip through a big residential area.

Also, this is something I've been wondering about. Was there an unconfirmed tornado on ISU's campus a couple of years ago (when a ton of trees went down), or was that just a wind event? I could never find that out.

I believe a twister touched down somewhere in Ames before the ISU-Colorado football game in 2005. ...leading to a lot of clever newspaper headlines.

The one I'm talking about happened in Spring '07 or Fall '06 I think. It was actually on campus.

I believe they said with the amount of damage that it had to of been a tornado; however it was not spotted or indicated on radar...

I remember one that dropped a tree limb through a car and killed a guy, but I think that was in '04.

Then there was another one in spring '07 that knocked down a huge tree next to Curtiss Hall that blocked off one of the entry doors.

I think both had tornadic winds but no confirmed sightings in either case.

I think the one your thinking of was the one that hit right before the Iowa vs ISU game. It did minor damage on campus, from one person it that was there they said it touched and lifted.

It also tipped alot of port a pots around the stadium.

I was in Pizza Pit when it happened a couple of years ago. Was most of the damage between Music hall and Friley?

I just remember huge trees down around central campus (by campanile). It was the one HOTDON was talking about with the big tree blocking to doors to Curtiss. I was in Ross Hall at the time it happened and walked out and was like "what the hell happened?"

Cy was just doing his job down there....

I did find out that only 1 main building was destroyed on the K-State campus. My buddy who went there said it was the Wind Erosion and Wind Study Building.

    How ironic.

I was in Curtiss Hall at the time. The sky turned green, the rain came down horizontally, the wind was blowing all kinds of crap in the air. When I came out an hour later after class was over, the big tree in front of Curtiss was snapped and laying across the door.

I was heading into Ross and remember the sky turning green and was thinking it was good I was in the basement of the building.
