I can't tell you how annoying this is:

"Officers and troopers also cited nine drivers for having excessive tint on their windows."

Annoying? Can you imagine going up to a car and not being able to see inside as a police officer? What if they have a gun?

Or other drivers and pedestrians checking if you see them while stopped at intersections. The tinting laws do have some meanings behind them.

Amen. I regard any driver of a car with excessive tinting as suspicious, or at the very least creepy...

Police pulling over people breaking the law? Unfathomable.

So why are minivan's with practically all window's tinted legal?

I dont agree with you (about the gun reason) but people should be ticketed for their own stupidity...unless they lived in a different state recently.

Rear windows can be painted black for all it matters. Just so happens that minivans have more rear windows.

I believe Iowa has different limits for the rear windows and the driver's windows and windshield. For instance, commercial cargo vans typically don't have windows on the sides and rear at all. They don't reduce the driver's ability to drive so they're allowed.

Pretty simple. Stay within 3 or 4 miles per hour of the limit and you're okay. Not brain surgery.

I did a ride along recently with a story county officer....changed a lot of my opinions on cops. Most of the time they're just doing their job, taking their orders, and trying to keep people safe.

They should have been out today about 1:15. I was too busy to look at the speedometer but I had the bike around 110mph near the 35th street exit.
