    Jack Trice Turf

At the game, I thought the field looked amazing. When I got home, it looked even more impressive on TV. That field looks beautiful. And when you consider that it was almost flooded, and the weather before the game that day, it makes it even more impressive.

Hat's off to the ground crew!

Then I saw the KSU turf today on TV -that rug must have been the original that they installed in the '70's

The grounds crew did one hell of a job with that field. I didnt see alot of major turf damage at all, even though we had 4 inches of rain 2 days prior. Bravo

And this is why we will never get field turf, because our grounds keeping crew does a superb job on our field! It looks better than field turf and I'm sure most players prefer a well kept natural grass field over anything else.

Our grounds crew is better than at least half of the NFL teams that still have natural grass.

I thought I was the only one that noticed. KSU looked horrible. Iowa wasn't too bad. Hawaii's is so bad it looks like old style astroturf. I kinda liked the stuff when it first came out, but apparently it's an eyesore after one year in the elements.

Anybody else remember when they threw our old turf away and it was next to the dumpsters at the Rec.

KSU's turf looked pretty worn out today.

    Re: Jack Trice Turf

I was shocked to see Fresno State's turf. It was as short as a putting green. At first I thought it was old style astro turf but the teams had grass stains. Someone next to me mentioned that Fresno has water supply problems so they might be forced to use a grass that requires little water. Either way it was kind of interesting.

Iowa State has an amazing turf management program and it SHOWS. I don't want this to hijack the thread, but once the audio/video gets upgraded and then of course eventually the south endzone, we will have one really great looking stadium.

I'm in the Marching Band, and we go on the field after the game to line up in parade block and head back towards Hilton-Scheman. I looked down after the game and the grass looked pretty damn good except for cleat marks everywhere. It was still stunning even after a full game.
