    Is the Punter THAT bad??

The punt last night was BRUTAL. He didn't even kick it 20 yards, and it almost got blocked. Please tell me that won't happen again?

If the same thing happens against Iowa (we will have to punt several times I'm sure) I can totally see one getting blocked, and giving Iowa a short field every time will really hurt. Iowa is notorious for blocking punts, just don't want to see that happen.

Hopefully the kick was just a fluke.

Blockable kicks? Adrian Clayborn is drooling in anticipation.

That's my #1 concern as well. It could be a bloodbath in IC if he can't punt worth a crap.

That punt formation was odd. Lamaak and two others as deep blockers?

Watch Van Der Kamp in pre-game warm-ups. He has a huge leg.

    the same as last year.

and of course the punter isn't that bad. But Kuehl is supposed to be the consistent one, and since he messed up badly, my guess is we see Van der Kamp next week.

The truth is we just don't know whether the punter is that bad or not - we only have one punt to go off of.

I'm going to go ahead and quote this for the truth.

Isn't Clayborn always drooling? Last I heard he didn't even know what state he was in.

My guess would be someone has to remind that ape to eat, sleep and bathe too.

Life is tough when you're operating on brainstem alone.

Good comment. At this point, it is a concern, but not a panic situation. Every punter shanks one now and then. It's just unfortunate that the bad punt came on his first attempt. I'm sure that Kuehl will be able to bounce back. If he doesn't, then Van Der Kamp is always another option.

True, it is the shortest punt of his career, so give him a break as he is bound to do better in the future.

(the is because I'm pretty sure it is also his longest punt of his career.)

I am more concerned about Field Goals and XP's. He is kicking the ball extremely low and not confidently. I know he is good and I want him to succeed. I have big hopes for Grant. . Iowa is going to be going after our kicking game no doubt..

Re: Is the Punter THAT bad??

It looked to me like the protection breaking down on that punt affected the kick. I think everyone is making way too big of a deal out of this. If the guy can't punt the ball further than 20 yards he wouldn't be wearing a college uniform. It was one bad kick. If it becomes a habit and Van Der Kamp isn't any better, then we can start worrying. The fact that we only punted the ball once is a good thing. That means our offense either scored or turned it over. I'm more worried about the turnovers than the punting game
