generally frowned upon, however every player knows that when you go into an opposing teams stadium you aren't exactly going to get the royal treatment so 99% of the time they ignore it (if they even hear it) and everybody goes on their merry way.

Oh he heard it. He must of liked it because he didnt move down to the other side of the side line. You could tell he was getting pretty ****** about it though.

For the KU game at Hilton last year I had a huge banner that said "WHIP IT OUT, SHERRON!!!" and he thought it was funny, and so did the rest of the team.

(In case you didn't know, he got charged with sexual assault for whipping it out in front of a lady in an elevator.)

I remember when Huggy Bear came to Hilton, the guys next to me were giving him so much crap an ISU administrative type came over towards the end of the game and told them to have class. The camera man seemed to love it though.

Vast majority of the time the players getting heckled are laughing because they know the guys doing the heckling would give their right arm to change places with them.

Let's see....paying your way through college and sitting in the stands wishing they were still playing, or full ride scholarship and competing in college athletics???

Guess most people can see who the joke is really on.

    Re: Player harassment

I'm okay with heckling the opposing players to a point. Verbally attacking an opposing player's family or anything of the like is taking it too far. That's just a line you don't cross.

I would never heckle a player unless he did something in his past to deserve it. They are college kids.

    Re: Player harassment

I was sitting right there also and the biggest mistake the NIU player made was turning around and saying something back to them, that just opened the flood gates. The best was the "George someone stoll your bike." comment, half of his teamates were laughing at that.

    Re: Player harassment

I really don't like it when people harass college athletes at all. It shows no class whatsover.

I will admit that I've yelled some things at players that have played dirty on the field though. But just yelling obscenities at some young college kid you don't even know is really low IMO.

As for pro players... I think almost anything goes. For some reason I see less of a problem when the players are multi-millionaire brats. So I'm probably a hypocrite.

    Re: Player harassment

I got after it pretty good last year in the Colorado game. I went to the game with intentions of just cheering and as the buffs ran out onto the field, a group of their players ran right over in front of our section (I was in front row) and were waving their hands at us. ****** a lot of people off and I must admit, I came up with some pretty good oneliners that day.

I was at the Ok State game with my 6 year old daughter last year, and some drunk 40 year old lady kept yelling obscenities and one liners at their kicker while we were getting our teeth kicked on the field. It was just plain annoying for me as a fan to have to listen to it.

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda
