We should have been 2nd behind PSU and I'm not even sure we shouldn't be first. tOSU loses a game a year at home. I don't think Texas and OU have better home records.

We may be accused of stacking the viewing deck.

This may also lower the income of the program.

We should sell Nebraska single game tickets for $90.

Can the VB tickets be transferred?

ISU plays 3 teams on the road that are ranked in the pre-season top 10. Between 2003 and 2009, Texas and OSU have home records of 40-4 and 43-2 (ranked 4th and 3rd respectively). Iowa sits at 14th with a 34-7 record.

Not sure why San Jose gets the #3 spot, as they too play some ranked teams, but the teams they play aren't, on average, as highly ranked, or have such stellar records at home.

As for the #4 and #2 spots going to the Mississippi schools...I'm not surprised. Not sure if I agree with it necessarily, but virtue of playing in the SEC, they're automatically playing highly ranked teams that have some of the toughest stadiums for visiting teams to play in.

Penn State certainly deserves the #1 spot.

    Penn St road schedule:

    @#1 Bama
    @#9 Iowa
    @ Minn
    @ #2 OSU

They are top heavy but only play 4 road games all year! But still they have to be #1 based on the 3 headed monster of Bama, Iowa, and OSU

I don't think there is any question we have the toughest schedule in the nation, let alone 5th.

Re: Iowa State #5 toughest Road Schedule

I like that there are a lot of tough road games because that means the teams that are beatable are in the Jack. Nothern IL., UNI, Kansas, TTU with a new coach, MU isn't really scary, and Utah is good, but they are not Texas, OK or for that matter Iowa. At least you feel like you have a fighting chance with the teams coming to Ames. KSU at Arrowhead should be close crowd wise, and no one shows for CU games, so no crowd factor there.

Exactly what I have tried telling everyone all along. You want to play tough games on the roads and cupcakes (compared to road teams) at home. Only because this gets you ready to compete at all levels. The worst happens on the road, so you protect the home turf and at least win the MUST wins - as simple as that!!!

I thought maybe the 'Clones' road schedule wasn't ranked as high because it didn't have as many true road games (with KSU at a neutral site) but after reading this, I guess that's not it.

It's close but I don't know how ISU can say that they can beat the fact that Penn State has the fortune of playing the preseason top 2 ON THE ROAD.

But I agree that the #5 ranking seems a bit low. I suppose they're giving the Mississippi teams a lot of credit for playing teams like LSU, Florida, Alabama, etc on the road.

Yep. When people complain about this yeears schedule, I always said next years was tougher. Of course, who knows what next years schedule will look like now.

Re: Iowa State #5 toughest Road Schedule

My question is why do we always play Texas and Oklahoma back to back? I remember the first time that happened (iirc it was like 2002) and I remember Mac cried to the B12 about it and and they pretty much said "too bad, so sad, that's the way the cookie crumbles."

But here we are, 8 years later and we still play them back-to-back. What's up with that?
