LaVar Arrington suffers multiple injuries in accident

    ESPN link

Free-agent linebacker LaVar Arrington was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in the Washington, D.C., area, the player's agent told ESPN.com on Monday.

Carl Poston said it was his understanding that Arrington suffered a broken bone in his arm, three broken bones in his leg, cuts and bruises. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. He is recovering at Prince George's Hospital Center.

Arrington, a former Pro Bowl linebacker for the Washington Redskins, is not currently under contract to any team. The 28-year-old Arrington is still rehabilitating an Achilles tendon tear that cut short his 2006 season with the New York Giants.

That little accident is going to cost him a few bucks.

Re: LaVar Arrington suffers multiple injuries in accident

Sad to hear. I hope he is able to recover soon. It brings up an interesting issue, though. If I were a GM for any sports team, I would insist on a "no motorcycles clause" in every player contract. There are too many stories of players getting themselves seriously messed up after motorcycle accidents. There's time to ride when your career is over. I realize that this wouldn't have applied to Arrington, who wasn't under contract with any team, but he just put himself in a position where he may not even get a chance to play for another team for a long, long time.
