    Where are the fans?

I was listening to the Matt & Miller show on a podcast and i agree with some a little bit. Where are the fans? Why cant we sell out a game? This is one of the best teams we have had in years. I agree with them that we have an AMAZING coaching staff. We have great football players on the team and we need to PACK THE JACK. My family and I will be doing our part and other Cyclone fans need to start doing theirs. We need to start getting Jack Trice packed. I'm tired of all the 35,000 people crowds. LETS GO CYCLONE NATION! GET YOUR BUTTS IN THE SEATS!

When they win big games, the fringe fans will start to show more. I believe in the next couple of years turnout will improve.

    Re: Where are the fans?

In the parking lots tailgating. That's one of the downfalls to having awesome tailgating and a mediocre to poor team most years.

I personally love being in Jack Trice on game day, but a majority of my friends stay out in the lots to party and that's how it's always been except for the Seneca years.

See i hate this. I love tailgating as much as the next, but you shouldnt just go tailgate and then not go to the game. Also, we lose half of the fans during half time when they leave. That shouldnt be allowed.

    Re: Where are the fans?

The fans are being typical Iowa State fans and taking a wait and see approach. Everyone has said for months we will be lucky to win 6 games because we have such a tough schedule. No wants to hear that. we have already set ourselves up for mediocrity. So, don't expect the majority of fans to respond differently. Just getting by shouldn't be good enough.

Now, I'm going to be at the game on Thursday, and I am bringing my whole family. It won't be the last time I take them this year. But, if you want to know where most of the fans are right now. They are wondering if it is worth it to spend the money on a team that the world is saying at best will win half their games

Now that the renovations are complete - why do they allow pass outs during halftime?

That was the reasoning given a few year back when JP tried to squash the pass outs. That we didn't have the facilites

(I know that's BS and he got alot of pushback. Still interesting that the whole idea more or less vanished)

So, people shouldn't be able to leave until the game is over?

You haved been "hawked" by the shills on KXNO. When was the last time we only had 35K at a game . . especially opening night?

I hear this all the time by hawks but it is an OUTRIGHT fabrication of what THEY would like to believe. Now prove me wrong MATT & MILLER.

    Re: Where are the fans?

Two things need to happen to fix this. Item one is win. If we win and win consistently, people will want to be there.

The other item is the south endzone upgrade. The enclosed seating and the new video and sound system will be a huge boost for the noise and atmosphere inside the stadium. It will create an electric atmosphere that you just won't want to miss.

Long story short, the gameday experience needs to be far better than the tailgating experience for each and every game, not just iowa, Nebby, or the occasional tornado game. If it was rocking like that every single week, would you just sit out in the parking lot?

I think if they leave at halftime that they shouldnt be able to come back in. It'll help keep people in the seats

JP stated last night on the call in show that the endzone project is a long way off, and can't be justified until attendance improves. IMO - rightfully so.

They are going to the BOR to get approval for a new sound and scoreboard system, however.

And if I understood John Walters correctly, the number one priority right now is the soccer/softball/track complex (?)

I hear ya, but that's just the reality of it. Winning and playing exciting football does help solve this problem though. The party in the stadium needs to be more exciting than the party in the lots for some folks & let's face it, some people don't come into the game for the simple fact that they need to stop drinking.

    Re: Where are the fans?

What are Matt and Miller basing their discussion on? We haven't even had a game yet this season. How do they know what it's going to be like?

I would go if I could get a decent seat but since the best I can do right now is way up in the corner and I can't afford season tix, I'm better off watching from my living room.
