    Sage Rosenfels Story Again

Is Jackson truly the best option behind Favre? | StarTribune.com

Looks like a lot of people agree that Sage should be No. 2 behind Favre.

    Re: Sage Rosenfels Story Again

People already hated TJack, but didn't really know much about Sage/didn't really see him play. But during the preseason, he's shown leadership and the ability to make the proper decisions.

Tarvaris, however, for being Childress's apparent favorite (after Favre), still seems to be unable to properly read defenses, or perhaps even lead the team down the field. Right now, I'd almost say he and rookie Joe Webb seem to be neck and neck at times (in terms of what they do when the pocket collapses...panic).

Unless there's something that's happening off the field, I don't understand why Sage is behind Jackson as the #2 QB. I understand Childress says that Tarvaris is showing 'growth' and 'evolution', but forgive me for not really believing him, as I think he's said the same thing in the past. TJack has potential. I don't deny that. But he's still undeveloped. Sage isn't a scrambler, and probably isn't going to make miracle throws like Favre will occasionally do, but I think he's a reliable QB with the ability to lead the team.

And for full disclosure, I'm a Hawkeye/Viking fan, so me thinking Sage should be the Vikings choice is saying something.

    Re: Sage Rosenfels Story Again

TJ's "growth" and "evolution" has still only brought him to the level of NAIA backup.

    Re: Sage Rosenfels Story Again

I'm certainly not going to cry for Sage, as he is making some serious dough right now for holding a clipboard. However, he should be getting a chance to take the reigns somewhere based on how well he has performed. I think he could be very much like a Jake Delhomme or Matt Hasselback when they were in their prime. As long as Jake didn't force it, he wasn't ever top tier in the NFL, but right there in the 2nd tier. Somebody like the Cardinals or 49ers could really use someone like him right about now.

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

The 49ers are all about Alex Smith, aren't they?

Make sense about Cardinals - they need a quarter who can manage games.

Tjoke sucks horribly. Sage should be #2.

TJack befits a KC Chief qb better.

sorry, but comparing jackson and webb at this point is laughably stupid. while jackson has always been hated by vikings fans for some unknown reason he is our next best quarterback. chris carter has said it himself, jackson, at this point in his career is a solid nfl starter. i don't necessarily have great confidence in the vikings ability to make a good playoff run with jackson at quarterback this year or in the future but he's the next best we have right now. i love sage and all but he is not a quality nfl starter.

Sage is twice as good as Tjack. Sage ranks 3rd in stats for this preseason. Only behind Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

I think the Vikings should keep Tjack and dump Sage.

Of course I'm a Bears fan so I may be rooting for the Viqueens to fail....horribly.

nothing like preseason stats to back up your argument; while you're there you should look up pass attempts which are limited for players who actually might see the field during the year.
