I didnt go, but itll be interesting to hear how Brackins did against Wes. Johnson. If he held his own, ill be very happy. Wes is quicker and a better athlete, so i wont be surprised to hear Wesley got the better of him. Maybe they didnt even really go against each other.

    Re: Cap City league???

I will post more tomorrow, but I will tell you that I walked away feeling that Boozer, Stieger, and Haluska are going to see some serious playing time. Taylor and W. Johnson played on another level from everyone else. It looked like Johnson grew another inch and could jump hire. He also has great looking shot.
We need to back off some of these players b/c the games are not setup for post play what so ever and there is no structure on office. So Vette, Hubalek, Thompson and Brackins don't get the ball as much as they should.

Thanks for the updates, I am not sure that it is fair to say that Mike was the same ol guy. This is, after all, an exhibition, and so it's run and gun, and easy for guys to get out of control.

I am willing to take this all back if he still does it during the season.

I don't think it's a good idea to grade post players or methods of playing from these kinds of leagues, they just aren't condusive to smart play or post play. What I try to take away is athleticism and individual skills. I haven't made it to a game yet this year, but I'll probably catch the late games on Wednesday and the Sunday games next week.

Did anyone one see the highlight of D. Garrett's dunk in the Cap City league. I know it's just the ccl but his dunk was sweet. Tomahawk. The only thing missing was Bill Raferty yelling thrown it Down Diante.

    Re: Cap City league???

My brother hangs out a lot with Alex Thompson and his friends. One interesting tidbit that I got from my brother is that Thompson and others on the team are not getting along well with Boozer. They said that he has a ton of attitude and is not blending. Hopefully that will change, but I found it disturbing to hear since I thought Boozer seemed to have a playful attitude on the court and I love his high arc of a shot.

Hmmm. That playful attitude you see on the court could be a toned down version of arrogance the other see in workouts and such.

If true, perhaps Boozer thinks he's the next best thing since sliced bread because of his name.

    Re: Cap City league???

I was also there and I thought MPC gave a pretty good recap. The only thing I disagree with was your assessment of Mike Taylor. There were a few times, I would be able to count on one hand, he got out of control but overall I thought he played pretty darn good. Some of the slashes to the basket that he made were very nice. I saw many times where he drove in to the lane and drew contact and was still able to make the basket. He didn't shoot a lot of outside shots but his ability to get to the basket and finish against contact was very impressive to me. I also like Mike's intensity on defense, this league obviously doesn't showcase a lot of defense but Mike was constantly in the face of whoever he was guarding. I like the Boozer kid. He guarded and was guarded a lot by Rashon and held his own very well for giving up a few inches and a few pounds. Lucca is going to be a heck of a player. I'm pretty sure he was 6-6 on his three point attempts and they were for the most part right in the flow of the game. He handled the ball very well. He ran the point for most of the time he was out there. And towards the end when the game was close he was the one that wanted to take and hit the clutch shot each time down the floor, which he did. Brister was able to slash to the lane quite a bit in the second half he did have a problem with finishing which I guess is his MO. I only caught a little bit of Diante's game and he as mentioned by MPC was a very good ballhandler. And I also thought that Corey looked like a whole new man out there. He easily controlled that last game against Jiri and Thompson. All in all I think that this recruiting class if they're all able to stay in school could be very good by the time their juniors and seniors.

    Re: Cap City league???

The comments about Corey J most interesting.

Here is a question: Does Corey just play well with this type of format (ccl) or does he look legitimately improved over last season?

For those of you who saw him play, do you see Staiger as a 2 or a 3 for us?

    Re: Cap City league???

Does anyone else see this lineup?
    1. Garrett
    2. Taylor
    3. Lucca
    4. Wes J
    5. Jiri
-I know this leaves Clark out, but he just brings so little offensively to the table. He could come in as a lockdown D player but from what i've seen last year and now in the cap city league, he may be our worst overall offensive player. I can see how it would be really hard to leave Clark out though. He does play great D and is great leader on the floor. So how about this lineup?
    1. Lucca
    2. Taylor
    3. Clark
    4. Wes J
    5. Jiri
-What I'm getting at is that Lucca is going to play this year. He is a big 12 player and really good get for ISU!

    Re: Cap City league???

my guess on the chemistry issue is:
    A. Charles Boozer thinks he's all that because of his brother or at least leaves that impression on his teammates, but coach mac will teach him the whole team thing and he'll end up being a very good off the bench player for his freshman year at least

    B. Craig Brackins is getting frusturated about mike not sharing the ball a lot in pick up games and it not being a structured game where the posts are utilized more

    C. Diante Garett is a lot smaller than the other players and is struggling also with the structured game thing

I also think that lucca playing point would seem to be a great idea if his ball handling and passing are as good as advertised on this sight; or we could at least give it a shot against a bad mid major team on our schedule
