    Will Ozzy ever go bad?

I just picked up Ozzy's new disc this afternoon, and he is still rocking as hard as he did when he was with Black Sabbath. Along with his first two tracks on the album Black Rain, (I'm Not Going Away and I Don't Wanna Stop) begs the question: Will Ozzy ever go stale? He's been around since the KISS era, and yet still puts out great music and songwriting (KISS stopped before Psycho Circus in the '90s). Will Ozzy continue to rock until he drops, or will he go craptastic? Also, assuming he continues to rule until his death, will he go out on-stage somewhere, or in the studio?

Ozzy, like Keith Richards, cannot be killed by conventional weaponary.

He's obviously good at surrouding himself with people who keep him from going stale. The co-writers and producers and musicians and management. Ozzy himself is the visible tip of the iceberg that keeps his career rolling. He's still performing, so I really don't think he's anywhere near giving up on albums. I Don't Wanna Stop is good stuff.

Really, Sharon has been the one to keep Ozzfest continuing, which can lead to the impression that Ozzy is just a front man. However, Ozzy himself, and Sharon both decide what bands will be on that tour each year, and even though he's still fighting his drug addictions, you can still see that he writes his own lyrics, and even with the help of others, still makes the songs. Actually, even though he has more help now with his career, you can't tell much (if any) diference in his songwriting from when he first went solo. That has to be one of the most commendable aspects of Ozzy himself, and upholds the view that he is, undoubtably, the Prince of Darkness/Metal.

I know the convention is that drugs ruin one's mind, but in Ozzy's case I think it grew a few extra brain cells for him...

Re: Will Ozzy ever go bad?

As long as he has a Zack Wylde on guitar, he will be the man. I love BLS. Of course Ozzy was better with Randy Rhodes. But Zack will still crunch a guitar, so Ozzy can still rock, even though age is catching up.

Other than on stage, though, Ozzy is painful to watch. Anymore, I kind of look at Ozzy concerts like I did Cub broadcasts in 1995-97, before Harry died. It might be tough to watch, but you want to see what happens so you can tell the stories for years.

While Ozzy is definitely painful to watch outside music, Sharon is NEVER painful to watch. She offsets Ozzy's perfect persona to a T, and she's certainly the brains of the operation.
