White Sox win waiver claim of Manny Ramirez

As expected the White Sox claimed Manny Ramirez off waivers. The Dodgers have until Tuesday to either pull Manny back off waivers, work out a trade with the White Sox, or just let him go. Manny also has to waive his no trade clause.

Should be interesting to see if they can get this done, I'm not holding out hope though.

When you currently have Mark Kotsay as your DH? Yes that would be a win.

Loose use of the word "win."

A .300 hitter with an OPS than has only dipped below .900 once since '95? Yeah I'd say it would be a win assuming the Sox don't have to give up one of the young hitters (Viciedo, Beckham, Alexei Ramirez) or Chris Sale. I'm guessing the Dodgers are mainly looking for the Sox to pick up all of the contract, with the divorce impending of the Dodger's owner money is looking to be tight over there.

i dont see Texas picking him up with Vlad, I hope the Rays get him instead. We need another arm in the bullpen right now over Manny.

I don't see how picking up Manny is going to help the White Sox bullpen.

While that might be true about our bullpen...ain't no one giving up a quality reliever right now unless you are willing to give up a ton of talent or the guy has a huge contract! I agree we need help in the bullpen...there just isn't much at all that is available.

Scoring more runs helps the Sox bullpen. That said...we have won the claim, whether Manny wears a White Sox uniform is yet to be determined.

And has played in how many games?

It's Manny Ramirez. He is one of the greatest hitters of all time. He has been in the playoffs and brings experience plus a big time bat. You put him at DH and he doesn't have to field. It's a no brainer and a HUGE win for the Sox.

So? That is not too many fewer hits than Kotsay/Jones have over the same period! OK...slight a exaggeration but understand the White Sox thinking...

If Manny goes to the ChiSox I hope like hell they don't get into the playoffs. Bastard OWNS the Yankees.

That's the whole point. He's played 5 games in 2 months. You are paying a guy almost $3mil to, probably, sit on the DL the rest of the year. He can't stay healthy anymore.

He won't have to play LF if he's on the Sox, which will probably help him out a lot.
