Nifong said in testimony today that no matter what the outcome of this trial is, he is going to resign his DA position.

I get the feeling he won't have a choice. Or at least, he shouldn't.

He should be in jail for the harm he caused those 3 players. Everyone in the country new this trial was pure crap, and he pressed on to try and make a name for himself. Disbarring him is not enough.

I completely agree. Last year was an election year for him, he was grandstanding for his constituents (majority black citizens, I believe). He didn't even freaking INTERVIEW the accuser until AFTER he was re-elected....and all the exculpatory evidence was turned over to the defense attorneys AFTER he had gotten re-elected.

He caused irreparable damage to each of those players' good standing.

BTW, let's not let the accuser off the hook here. She needs to have serious charges filed against her and she should be doing time. She had a LARGE part in damaging these innocent guys, the DA just took off running with her BS story.

Also, where are the apologies from the Rear End Jesse Jackson, and his cohort Al Sharpton? They decried the horrible racism in the area and "rich white folk" taking advantage of the poor black strippers. It'd be nice if they got roasted publicly for a change.

I would definitely agree with that. You can ruin someone's life just as easily that way as you could if you were on the other side, and the charges were true.

Re: Duke Lacrosse Prosecutor Defense Trial

A line from one of my favorite movies, "The Life Of David Gale":

"The accusation of rape is just as good as a conviction."

It's so absolutely true. And before I get myself into trouble, let me make it crystal clear I think rape is an abominable crime, and any man (or woman, for that matter) that commits it deserves to rot in prison, as well as have a few certain body parts rendered unfunctionable. But, all a woman has to do to ruin a man's life (for whatever reason - revenge, jealousy, etc) is accuse him of rape. That will pretty much end his life as he knows it. It's because in America rape is not an "innocent until proven guilty" crime, at least not in the eyes of the public. There's such a rush to try to "make things right" due to a woman facing this horrible crime that the accused sometimes just doesn't get treated fairly, especially when they're not guilty.

Can anyone truly say that these players are ever truly going to get their lives back? Not likely. Some people out there are gonna keep them on their condemned list (a certain 80-some-odd professors who signed that petition at Duke, for instance), regardless they've been proved innocent.

Yes, charges need to be filed against this woman. She has basically altered the direction of 4 young mens' lives which may never be totally fixed. If an example was to be made of the men that supposedly "raped" her, then an example needs to be made of her, one that will make evil-intending women think twice before using rape accusations to their own advantage.
