    NBA...ouch!

It's Game 4 tonight. Also today was the first round of the US Open.

On ESPN's front page, all day the US Open has been the feature. Every other day a finals game was to take place, the that game was featured. Today, you'd have to look pretty hard to know there was a possible championship-winning game tonight.

It's a rough day for the NBA when golf preempts you, even if it is the US Open.

Stern, however, said today on the Dan Patrick show he's not worried about low ratings.

Why should he be? Game 1 wasn't that bad, and game 2 was on the same night that "The Sopranos" finale aired, which was huge. It's been an above average playoffs overall.

The US Open is a bigger deal than game 4 of series that is 3-0. I still think the Cavs might sneak out a win tonight, though.

Who wants to watch game 4? Clearly the cavs are outclassed, even if LeBron just named his kid Bryce.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    Re: NBA...ouch!

I think this will probably go down as one of the most disappointing Finals' series ever...... The playoffs in general (especially in the East) were quite a letdown this year, but I think it's more of an abnormality than a trend. I still think the Cavs are most likely the 3rd best team in the East, and them beating the Pistons was similar to the Cardinals winning the WS last year (an average team getting hot at the right time and pulling off the upset.) The Spurs have clearly cooled Lebron off and will unfortunately complete the sweep tonight.

This year's U.S. Open is a big deal because it's going to be ridiculously hard. That's what all the stories are about. Makes for some great sports writing too. Probably better than anything they could write about a relatively meaningless NBA game tonight (Spurs will win it either this one or the next.) Most of the pack will be jumbled up trying not to double bogey every hole. Studies have shown percentages for Sunday drama actually decrease dramatically when they play a course this hard since everyone is losing ground (not gaining), but the great thing about golf is you never really know what's going to happen...

Every year the playoffs are either "the best ever!" or "the most disappointing ever!". We, being human, want to believe what we see in the here and now is the most important. I'm guessing there have been a lot of boring series ... ask the fans of everybody else when Bill Russell played or how bout when Mikan was reigning supreme.

In our lifetime Lakers-76ers was BOOORRING!

The Spurs are clearly the better team, but it isn't like the they have been blowing the Cavs out every game. Through the 1st three games, the average margin of victory was 7.5. The Cavs are right in there tonight as well.

Sigh. Series over. They would have only prolonged the inevitable if they had managed to win this game tonight. Now the most boring NBA team in my lifetime skates away with yet another championship. Lame.

    Re: NBA...ouch!

I think to get my interest back, they're going to have to create some sort of no flop rule. If the officials thing someone flopped on purpose, they get a foul. I think the european influx has brought the worst part of soccer and mixed it with basketball.

If I have to see Ginobli or Verajoa fall over one more time... and honestly, does tony parker have to fall after ever single drive to the hoop?

The pinnacle was when Fisher got a technical at the end of the Jazz/Spurs serious for a horrid acting job by Ginobli. Game was in hand, and Manu ran into Derek's back, flopped over and acted like he was molested. Fisher didn't even no what happened or why it was called until he saw the replay.

This looked like the Clones versus Texas in football last year.

If I picked players from each team, my prioritized choices would be: Tony, Manu, Tim, Bruce, LeBron, Varejau. I think the Spur coach must be the best coach in the NBA with his old assiistant about No. 10. Its the coach.

    .
the sad part is that it is a rule. flopping is unsportsmanlike and subject to a technical foul, however it is never called. I'm reffing a aau tourney in a couple weeks, now that you got me riled up about it I'm gonna have to call one. Manu is pretty good at it - I've seen much worse.

Heck, our oline was flopping all the time and they did not call a penalty during the football season.

Maybe James should have flopped at the end of Game 3 and he would have gotten the call.
