    Lost my friend

    I posted this earlier this week during the day, but I usually post at night so I'm going to do it again. My best friend was killed last week near Storm Lake. Two 15 year olds stopped at a stop sign and then pulled out without looking into the path of a car and a semi.They hit the car, which hit the semi that was full of rock. The semi swerved into the opposite lane which my friend was driving his semi in. He had just dropped off his load. He died on impact. He left behind a wife, a mother, a sister, two sons, a daughter(my god daughter), and nieces. Please pray for this family.

    I knew him in high school. He was a great guy to be around. Saw his obit then found an article about what happened in the Sioux City news. Terrible tragedy. He will be missed.

    Yeah, he was funny and so outgoing. I'm really going to miss him. My Sierra(J.R 's daughter) went up during the funeral and read a poem for her daddy. She's an unbelivable little girl.

    not to lessen the loss AT ALL but, but Ive made some terrible driving decisions after severe physical exertion or very challenging tests I could see how something could happen like this. Now one family has a loss and two kids have to live with the accident for ever.

    Again not trying to lessen the loss, and sorry for it.

    Wait a minute, 15? Can they legally drive to practice?

    Yes, the boy is allowed to drive to and from school events at 15 as long as he takes the most direct, shortest route. He can only have passengers under 16 if they depart from the same location (he can't pick anyone up at their house).
    The big question remains: how the heck can you pull out in front of a semi in the middle of the day, unless you're distracted? Was he joking around with his buddy, or texting on his phone?
