I'm watching the USA vs Latvia game and I've come to the conclusion that the NBA needs to move over to international rules. I know that the NBA superstars are not playing on this USA team, but this game is just much more appealing than anything the NBA has shown recently. With zone defenses and allowing some physical play on the interior and drives, it forces teams to play together and run sets rather than just isolating a superstar and let them drive til they get fouled. The NBA has become a league where the GM matters more than the coach and it's just become hard to watch.
The only international rule I would want is the goaltending.
Also you can play zone in the NBA now, players just don't like it.
Not quite. You still can't be in the lane for more than 3 seconds. Kinda prevents a 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone that way.
Also, it's not as much the rule changes that I would like to see. It's more the way that they call their current rules. A player can get anything on drives and then let the player have 5 steps after the call to put up any ridiculous shot they want. If Kobe can get even half a step on his defender he's either got a field goal and 1 or is shooting 2 free throws.
