    Percussion Mishap? (Possibly Gross...)

    Ran across this clip today:

Flabber | Weblog: Jochie drumt z'n oog eruit

Watch the timpani player on the right. Right as the guy behind him whacks the gong, his head jumps and his eye appears to pop right out, dangling by the nerve. People who have seen this clip before say his timpani stick gets stuck in his cheek, eye, whatever, and it's not an actual eye dangling from his skull.

    What do you think?

its definitely the jagged end of the stick that is stuck in his face after it broke

I'd say it was the stick - he looked like he was trying to pull it out, not put it back in.

I'm not so sure about the stick thing...if you watch it closely, you can see the other stick in his right hand, and it doesn't look broken to me.

But for an "expert" opinion, ask ornryactor...he's the percussionist.

And thank you Stumpy for this:

The "stick" looks like a piece of string though. However, it could be a case of the old rubber pencil phenomenon.

I have seen video of someone's eye actually popping out and it does not dangle that far away from your eye socket. It just looks like your eye is bulging out. If you think about it why would you have that much extra optic nerve behind your eye, it just does not make sence.
