    Orton gets extension

What new deal means to Orton and Tebow - AFC West Blog - ESPN

I'm not a Broncos fan, but it's hard not to be happy for Iowa boy, Kyle Orton. He's been written off for pretty much all of his pro career despite posting a win percentage over 60%. He managed the Bears offense as a rookie in 2005, and helped them get to the Super Bowl. Despite being considered a throw away on the Jay Cutler trade, he had his best year statwise in 2009, and was rewarded with the Broncos drafting a QB in the first round. He deserves this extension, because he's demonstrated that he's a quality NFL quarterback.

It's always impressive to me how the state of Iowa, considered by many to be pretty barren when it comes to football talent, had 3 natives playing quarterback in the NFL last year. That's pretty impressive considering the size of the state.

EDIT- My bad, it was the playoffs he led them to in 2005, not the Super Bowl.

As a non-Bears fan living in Chicago, just watching everything objectively, it was EXCRUCIATING listening the the Orton-Grossman back and forth over the years.

Grossman was just a very, very bad NFL QB. He went down to injury and all Orton did was play steady conservative football and win games behind the best defense in the league that year. So of course, when horrible turnover prone Grossman comes back from injury they play him again.

Not even a Bears fan, but the city is so obsessed you're forced to follow along and it was just plain as day they should have never pulled Orton once he took over for Rex. The Cutler trade I could at least see the logic behind it even though it hasn't worked out so far.

If Tebow is ever ready to play QB it won't be next year, I say it's a good move.

Yeah, Timmy needs to make quite a leap before he's ready to take the reins, both in technique and decision making.

As a broncos fan I very happy to see give him an extension. He was solid last year and think he knows the system well. First preseason game he had 3 series and scored on 2 of those series. Proud to see him representing the Denver Broncos and Iowa.
