    Chris Allen/ Recruiting/Starting Line UP

With the new addition of Chris Allen, what will the starting line-up be for the 2011 season. I was thinking this.

    1) Chris Allen
    2)Elgin Cook
    3)Melvin Ejim
    4)Royce White
    5) ???

And also, do you think Hoiberg will get a top notch recruit coming out of H.S next year?

Re: Chris Allen/ Recruiting/Starting Line UP

PG - Recruit/Transfer or Chris Allen
SG - Chris Babb (Or Chris Allen if he doesn't start at the point)
    SF - Melvin Ejim
    PF - Royce White
    PF - Anthony Booker

I don't think, with a run and gun team, that we'll have a distinct 5-man. Two hybrid power forwards instead, I'd think.

Still not sold on Booker. He really did nothing for a MVC team last year.

The rest are all much more proven.

Whoa...BB at ISU is really looking strong again. I can't wait for the season to start. Keep up the top notch recruiting coaches. Go Cyclones!

True, I could see it being possibly Godfrey/Railey/McKnight if any of them are ready. Not sure if Godfrey's going to be on the team or not though.

Allen isn't a one, and never has been. He's been forced to play it at times, but he's a straight 2.

I think SC starts over Babb. SC is really good when healthy.

Eight points per game total in college and people are booking Final Four hotel rooms. Long, long way from recovered from the past decade of failure.

I've yet to see anyone post anything about Final Four, let alone Elite 8, Sweet Sixteen, etc. I think we're all just thinking (hoping) for an NCAA Tournament bid at least. Nothing over the top. On behalf of the rest of the Cyclone fans here, sorry for the optimism after 4 years of garbage.

If you're concerned about his low PPG, would it be better to say it this way:

-5th leading scorer on a Final Four team

No one on MSU averaged more than 15 PPG, and there were only three that averaged double digits in points. He's a good player.

Also, it's worth noting that he was averaging around 11 per game until the final 7 or 8 games of the season. If you look at his game-by-game statistics, his point production (and minutes, albeit a little less) suddenly drops off late in the season.

This is speculation, but it's almost as if the relationship between Allen and Izzo was strained late in the season and his production suffered. Until that point, he was the third leading scorer on a Final Four team. With another year to mature and get better, he should hopefully be the second leading scorer on an NCAA tourney team at ISU (assuming White is as good as we think).

Summary: his numbers may be a little deceiving.

Then again, my speculations may be inaccurate.

He had a foot injury that limited him late in the season.
