    Tom Izzo= Much respect!

Statement from Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo
"The Iowa State program and Fred Hoiberg are getting a great addition to their team. Chris Allen is a good kid and will be a great player and a pro prospect for the Cyclones. A year away from basketball and a fresh start will be beneficial for his development as a player and a young man. I'm sad to see him go, but he and I have worked together as he has searched for his next school. With the excitement around Coach Hoiberg as he builds his program, Iowa State is a great fit for Chris, and we wish him nothing but the best."

I think this is amazing. I was just really impressed by his kind words about Chris and our (ISU) program, and coach. Just awesome!

I'm a new Michigan State fan now, fo sure!

    Re: Tom Izzo= Much respect!

I've been a fan of Izzo ever since 2000.

As bad as I feel about that game, Izzo and MSU aren't the ones who screwed us.

After the tourney I recall he stated that the regional final was effectively the championship game. And sometime later, I believe he was on Dan Patrick or some such radio show, and when they introduced his having the best team, he humbly stated that he wasn't so sure - I took it to be some props for ISU.

I've grown up paying attention to both programs and this is generally what you expect from Tom and his coaches. I'm not going to deny that 2000 was rough, but all MSU did was pursue their goals of a national title and succeed.

Lucky Tom did not take the Clevaland Cav job or he might have been hosed.

No doubt. I've always respected Izzo. Seems like a great dude to play for.

The fact that LeBron wouldn't sit down and meet with a coaching legend and possibly his next coach... when the two were living within a 2 hour car ride of each other... would have told any thinking person that there was ZERO chance LeBron was coming back to the Cavs.

I like Izzo, but as an Indiana guy, I simply cannot be a fan (even casual) of MSU.

It would have been a terrible move by Izzo even if LeBron had stayed. Izzo has never been on an NBA bench and he would have had to win a title his first season or it would be viewed as a failure. He's a great college coach and I'm glad he stuck around Michigan St.

Izzo is a CLASS ACT... but I still don't like Michigan St.... 2000 was just too hard on me.

Every time Izzo and/or MSU come up I think about what could have been and wonder were ISU BB would be if they won that game. That game maybe the toughest loss ISU has ever had, big stage, where it was, and how things went down. That being said, I respect Izzo and that program, he has done great things there.

It's the toughest loss because we're not being homers saying we'd have had maybe a 75% at a National Championship had we pulled it out. Watching MSU dance through the Final Four against low seeds is what makes it so tough. It's not like they beat top 5 Kansas and UNC teams in the Final Four that year like you'd have to in most, we were their test. Lucky break for them their one big test was on a green court in Michigan.
