    New Belgium Ranger

Anybody tried this? I grabbed a sixer last night. Wow. Great beer. Very hoppy and really smooth - not as dry as many IPA's I've recently tried. Usually I'm only wanting 1 or maybe 2 IPA's, but this had me wanting to keep going.

Of New Belgium's Explore Series (Ranger, Abbey, Trippel, Mothership Wit), I've had all but the Trippel. All have been good, with the Abbey being my favorite. Even my brother and father who are mostly Coors/Miller/Bud drinkers found the Abbey to be delicious.

Now I just need to find some of their Lips of Faith series somewhere.

Mothership's no good. Haven't tried trippel or abbey, but I guess I need to. Ranger is solid.

Ranger's a nice IPA but if you want hops with a smooth finish you should try New Belgium's Hoptober.

I like all of the Fat Tire beers. I'm a wheat beer fan, so I like the Mothership, but I can see why people don't like it because of the citrus and coriander flavors.

For the OP: I see you're in Minneapolis...if you get the chance, check out Dennis Brothers Liquor in Cottage Grove. Best liquor store I've ever been to, and the highest rated store in MN on BeerAdvocate.com. Great selection and outstanding service.

Ranger, Hoptober and Fat Tire are all on tap at Mahoneys in CR. IMO, beer is always better on tap...especially in a frosty pint. Trippel is one of my all time favorites. Simply an awesome beer with solid ABV.

If I get close I'll check it out. Thanks for the lead. I used to live in NE, so Surdyk's and St. Anthony Liquour store had very good selection... but this place sounds fantastic.

It's like a candy store. The owners are two great guys that will steer you in the right direction, load you up with a ton of beer knowledge, and insist on carrying your stuff to your car. The first time I went, they threw in a free beer glass.

Dale's Pale Ale is the best IPA on the market.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Double thumbs up. I recently went on a fishing trip to Canada, and hauled a 12er of Dale's with on the 30-hour car ride.

I will agree with you that Ranger is pretty good for New Belgium. My favorite though is Dogfish head's ipa.

Modus Hoperandi IPA from Ska Brewing out of Durango, CO is the best IPA out there.

Yeah dogfish is a bit better than Ranger. If you're looking for a smoother IPA, Goose Island IPA is really good.
