Thanks. The closer we get to the season, the better I feel about the defense and the more on the fence I am about the offense. Still, having said that, it is early. I think we'll learn a lot about how the offense performs on Saturday's scrimmage. I've heard that the O has had a solid week of practice. Time will tell. Having that line and a certain guy named A-Rob makes me feel better. Plus, I believe in AA. He's due for a huge year.

No. The line will be fine. The passing game is what has me a bit concerned.

That's one thing I like about this staff. They always seem to say good things to keep morale up, but not enough so that they get stagnant and don't want to improve.

So it is up to the qb to not lock onto his receivers this year by looking off the defense? And will our receivers be able to separate from the defenders. That is why Colin Franklin may be the key. We need to utilize him more.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

What is your biggest concern about the passing game? Is it the play of AA or the WRs, or just the offensive scheme in general?

With all the talent we have at WR, and with an experienced QB, this is the last concern I expected to have.
But nonetheless, its a concern. I guess this year we will find out once and for all if Arnaud's ability and Herman's offensive philosophy is all that its cracked up to be.

    Agreed. Big Franklin fan.

Great interview, Chris, and keep up the great work. Coach Bliel has intrigued me since he came here last year, I think he is going to do wonders for our team. Chris, when you interviewed him, could you describe to all of us exactly how he smelled, using three words or less. Thanks.

I liked the fact that BB feels good enough about the Oline that he intends to redshirt all the new guys - that sounds like progress to me!

Excellent point, cygrads. Having inexperienced, underweight players on the line play because you have no other options has become the norm at ISU instead of the exception.

Re: Camp Report: Bill Bleil Q&A

The amazing thing is Pete Hoener and Steve Loney were able to put good productive offenses on the field without great talent everywhere(we had talent, but not across the board). Of course we couldn't stop anyone back then. I just was so ticked in 2005 when they finally put together a great defense (that was on the field a lot) and then the offense faltered. Anyway, we have more talent now than when Loney and Hoerner were here, lets hope the scheme and talent come together to score a ton of points.

Having that luxury now can make such a huge difference 4 years down the road; at OL more than any other positions, IMO. Another year in the weight room for your OL pays huge dividends.
