I am so happy with CPR

I'm just watching the preview on FoxSports and he just gets it. He understands what it's going to take to win and what he's got to do to get there. And the best part of all is that he loves his teams and he loves his players. Just listening to him talk, you can tell he's nothing but 100% genuine about how much he cares for this program. I know all of this stuff has been said a million times, but he's just got that "something". Listening to him, I was ready to stand up and run through a wall for him, so I can only imagine how much these kids want to perform for him.

Can someone tell me if it is going to show again? I wouldn't mind watching it.

And that will do more than any amount of money or any facilities upgrade to make ISU a perennial contender.

I think the biggest thing for CPR will be getting the interest of the state back, getting kids to believe in the ISU way.

How do you know? He's come out and said he'll fufill his 5 year contract but has not committed to anything beyond that.

he would love to stay here and have success. But, he won't be here very long if he doesn't have success. If we don't go to a bowl game in the next 4 years... he might be on his way out. Just the nature of the business- and he knows that.

I was just happy that this year the "analysts" at the end didn't talk about Austin Arnude.

I wonder what would happen if it went the other way? Say he gets a couple 8-10 win seasons somewhere down the line and has us competing for the North on a fairly consistent basis. If he started getting some good offers from big-time schools I wonder what would happen. I would like to think he would stick around due to his close ties with ISU but that would be really hard.

I know its all hypothetical but I think its interesting and have wondered it a few times. Then I find myself realizing what a good problem that will be to have and if we get to that point he will have left the program a million times better than he found it and we'll be over the "hump"

    Here's hoping

I would hope if CPR were accomplishing that here, that would be a sign that we can be more competitive salary-wise to up his pay. I would hope that if that option did present itself, he would go with his sentiment for ISU and stay. I think we really need a long term coach to establish the program. When you have that coach, you can't let him go ala Earle Bruce.

I am happy with our coach and staff. I like them a lot.

    I renewed my season tickets.

Not a real dramatic post, nor good or bad... but hopeful.

This is key. If CPR has sucess and gets other offers, I think he would be willing to give ISU a home team discount to some extent. However, I don't think he will stay at ISU regardless. We need to be able to give him what he is worth and if he wins consistently, we will need to pay him and his assistants more.

If CPR wins, but the program is supported monetarily, it will end up being a dead end job for him and I can understand him going elsewhere. Also, if despite quality coaching, the team can only win a max of 7 or 8 games, it would be beneficial to CPRs career and family to move on to a position where he can accomplish his goals.

I can't imagine JP not rewarding him for his performance. He hires good, smart people that fit the Iowa State mold. If CPR is deserving of an extension or raise, JP will be there.
