Rangers gets boost in NHL campaign with signing of Frolov

The New York Rangers quest for a great year in the next season of the National Hockey League got a much needed boost. This developed after the NHL franchise successfully signed into a one-year deal worth $3 million former Los Angeles Kings superstar forward Alexander Frolov. A long-time member of the Kings Frolov decided to take a different direction in his career and sign with the Rangers who are in need of someone who can provide scoring for the team.

With the entry of the 28-year-old winger, he will act as complement to superstar Marian Gaborik on the Rangers top line. Gaborik, the Rangers' top offensive threat, who had 42 goals and 86 points in his first season with the NHL franchise. While playing for the Kings last year, Frolov earned $4 million when he scored his fewest goals since posting 14 in his rookie season of 2002-03. The NHL superstar decided to take a one-year deal instead of a long-term contract so that he can asked for a more lucrative deal if ever he will have a banner year with his new team in the 2010 NHL season.

In his storied NHL career, Frolov has 24 career multigoal games, including three NHL hat tricks. In 536 regular-season NHL games, Frolov who can play on either wing has 168 goals and 381 points. Rangerís general manager Glen Sather is very happy with the signing of Frolov since he is a certified NHL superstar who can bring success to the organization in the next NHL season. Sather is confident Frolov can go back to his deadly form two seasons ago when he led the Kings with 32 goals 12 on the power play and was second on the club with 59 points. It was the third time he topped Los Angeles in goals.

During the 2006-07 NHL season, Frolov established career highs of 35 goals and 71 points. In his long-playing career in the NHL, Frolov has showed wonderfully that he is durable by playing at least 71 of 82 regular-season games in all but one season. He played a luck-luster 69 games during the 2005-06 seasons, but still managed 21 goals and 54 points. The NHL season is just around the corner so make it a habit to watch the professional hockey games live by getting cheap NHL tickets online.

What about Boogaard? With him they are clearly Cup contenders.

As a long time King fan I wish hiim well, but he better learn how to show up every night. It was extremely frustrating watching him routinely take nights off year after year. There is a reason his nickname among Kings fans was "Foloaf".
