    Boil Water Lifted in Ames

Ames water is all good! They recommend to flush all your water out throughout your system, showers/dishwashers/laundry etc.. until they go cold.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Can anybody explain this to me? Do they mean run the water until your hot water runs out? It makes no sense to me.

Fully open each faucet in your home from which you access drinking water. When the water turns cold, that indicates it’s coming directly from the water main. To flush water from your hot water heater, turn faucets to hot and run the water until it hot or warm water is being flushed from the tap.

Just turn it on until it runs cold, to insure that it is clean. The water currently in your pipes will be room temperature and is dirty. Cold water indicates clean water. Same with the hot water, turn your faucets to hot and just run it until it turns hot, so that you have flushed all of the dirty water out of your hot and cold pipes.

On the contrary, Ames' city TV channel 12 instructs residents to run your shower on hot until the water turns cold.

I guess - that's what the water dept. head guy said at the 4 pm city presser.
This is the one measure that I doubt will get 100% compliance from those citizens on limited income and worried about the cost of their water heater working that long.
