    Some post scrimmage notes

Just got done with interviews. I will have a ton of stuff posted later tonight. Here are a few notes.

    - No significant injuries came out of today's scrimmage.

    - It sounds like the defense played well. Wally Burnham told media members that right now, his defense has a "better pass rush" than they did a year ago at this time.

    - Rashawn Parker had a "really good day," according to Burnham. I know that Leonard Johnson recorded an interception for the defense, that according to Burnham as well.

    - Tom Herman on his receivers --- "Way too many dropped balls." Paul Rhoads echoed that as well.

    - When asked about surprises during camp so far, Rhoads mentioned Duran Hollis and Shontrelle Johnson first. Herman told reporters that heading into today, Jeff Woody was listed as the number two running back. He said that there is some very stiff competition for that spot. That competition includes Johnson and Hollis.

    - Of all of the defensive newcomers on Iowa State's roster, Burnham said that C.J. Morgan is the most ready to play at this point in time.

More stuff coming in a few hours.

Nice summary. Can we resume the silly arguments about secrecy now?

    Re: Some post scrimmage notes

Based off the pictures on cyclones.com the first team OL has changed.

    LT - KO
LG - Caspers (maybe he's not redshirting after all?)
    C - Lamack
    RG - Alvarez
    RT - Burris

    Is that correct Chris?

Not sure. I couldn't go to the scrimmage. I will check on this. As far as I know, Caspers is still redshirting.

Are you sure that's what he said? Admittedly, I didn't hear the question real clearly, but it sounded to me like he was asked about the freshmen LBs, not all the defensive freshmen.

Isn't Morgan the guy Wally was raving about on signing day? Didn't he say something about him growing into a 240-pound MLB, or something like that, some day?

We didn't have a pass rush last year. His comments could mean anything. I am optimistic though.

maybe, I'm not sure, I just remember seeing that he was around 190-200 pounds and thinking he would convert to safety, I may be wrong though

I'm just happy to see anything "promising", rather than constant grumbling about mistakes and shortccomings...

    Re: Some post scrimmage notes

Glad to see the coaches saying good things about Morgan, I posted on here in January after I saw and talked to him in the DM airport that I thought he had a frame to put on some good weight and either grow into a LB or a Sean Taylor sized safety.

Jeff Woody is our #2 tailback?

seriously, where have you been? He's been No. 2 since spring camp broke up. They haven't had a depth chart shakeup since then because they haven't scrimmaged since then. Herman said they would re-evaluate the depth chart after they watched the film.
