More flooding in Ames Friday August 13?

Is sandbagging occurring again in Ames in anticipation of more flooding? Freddie just tweeted this a few minutes ago...

Out here filling sandbags on Duff to save Hilton again. Protecting our home court once again!

Seems most all of the rain, particularly the heavier stuff, is to the south of DSM. And the chances are forecasted to diminish thoughout the afternoon and into the evening.

We got some showers here in Urbandale, but that's about it. Nice wind out there should help dry things. Now if we can get rid of the humidity

Yep thankfully it appears Ames missed at least this first wave of rain (hopefully there isn't another wave coming). Sun is out in Ames now.

There is a chance for more rain on Saturday night.

as much as we dont need the rain...it would be nice since its supposed to bring lower humidity. upper 70's forecasted for most of next week will make fixing the water mains much better

Call me crazy, but I think the fine people of Ames would prefer a little discomfort from humidity to more rainfall.

Exactly. And it doesn't necessarily have to rain for it to cool down, a cold front moving through should do the trick which is supposed to happen this weekend I believe.

Re: More flooding in Ames Friday August 13?

Recent rains don't seem to have helped the humidity issue much. I'd think lesser humidity would help the drying as well, wouldn't it?

Weather Channel says sunny, hot and humid tomorrow. Tomorrow night scattered storms, some being severe. Chance of rain 40%.

After that, long term forecast shows sunny and much cooler (low 80's, even some 70's in there) and no significant chance of rain til next week Saturday.
