Second row of the parquet - wow.
I hope we do all the necessary documentation and paperwork to get as much state/federal money as we need to rebuild/remodel Iowa State Center buildings, Lied, etc. Iowa City made a killing after their flood damage.
Just a note for future reference - they're "sump pumps."

Re: Flood Update: Hilton making progress

People have talked about the basketball court needing to be replaced. That is still months away. What about everything that the volleyball season requires? That's just right around the corner. How do they go about getting that repaired or replaced? How much equipment are we talking here?

Are these pumps being used primarily for pumping?

Volleyball uses the same court that basketball does.

Seems to me he responded to the question correctly. Worrying about the basketball court is the same as worrying about the volleyball court. The court is used for both.

I understand that. I bolded the parts. He talks about replacing the floor for basketball, but how that can wait a few months for the season. It can't wait, as they use the same floor.

We can get Johnny Orr Court in there now

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: Flood Update: Hilton making progress

OK, maybe I worded it wrong. Maybe people read it wrong.

People have mentioned about getting the basketball court replaced by basketball season. With the volleyball team using the same court, what will have to be done to get that in place by the time the first home match starts? How much of their equipment was lost?

That doesn't change the fact that the court is still something included in the things that are literally needed for volleyball season.

When it comes down to it you have to realize that all that you need to run a volleyball match is a court, a net, adequate lighting, the teams, and the officials to keep the score (which could be done on paper). After that everything is extras.

Yea the seats may not be replaced and as cushy as they always are, yea we might not have a full electronic display and video replays and graphics. But when you think of the things actually needed for a collegiate sporting event it really puts in perspective just how many luxuries we think about as requirements.

Sure we'll build everything back to where it was before, and we should. But when it comes down to it all you need is the playing court, the players, the coaches, the officials and something to keep score on. There will be some adversity for everyone involved, but we still have a Hilton, we still have a Jack Trice. The games will go on, and a sound system, a video board, and some folding chairs won't stop that. It won't be, but if it had to be Beyer hall has the facilities necessary for the actual competition. All that's missing is some seating for fans.

"Blamo"! The new CF approved swear word.

I don't know what might have been "lost". Nets are easily replaced. I don't seen any reason the standards would be a loss. Padding can probably be substitued from other campus facilities. And since they were all setup as the floor floated, they might not be in bad shape at all. Balls can be fed ex'd in a day. Fortunately volleyball isn't a particularly equipment intense sport.

As stated, the court is the primary concern, along with seating.

The facilities are another matter - lockerrooms, training, UNIFORMS, etc. The team also practices in Hilton as well. Another place to work out shouldn't be a big deal.

The overall impact of the stress and alteration to "routine" will have to be seen. They start in two mere weeks and hit the ground running. No real patsies to start this season.

The video production room that's used for all of the Hilton events is also used to produce the football games at JT too, yikes. It's where all the cameras are stored as well. I'm assuming that stuff all got ruined. Hopefully its all ready to go for the first game.

Re: Flood Update: Hilton making progress

Nick Britton from the AD stated (Facebook video) that the first soccer match is Aug 15th.

Not sure they're going to make that one.
