Is there any update on payouts from NU and CU?

They were going to fight it, weren't they? Anyone know when we'll hear how much we get?

I don't think it will really matter because it will surely go straight to Austin.

I've heard a couple of Nebraska mouthpieces (like Travis Justice) say that Neb will be fighting this big-time, could go to court over it. Most likely a settlement will occur, which means nowhere near a total amount that's been talked about.

I still don't understand this. They left a conference that has a buyout penalty if you choose to leave.

I hope both schools get ****ed over royally.

I just hope that they get the privilege of meeting their contractual obligations.

FWIW - That is exactly what I've been hearing in Omaha. Nu won't pay anything near what has been mentioned in the media or the contract. My understanding is that their case has a lot of merit due to texas talking to multiple conferences about expansion. According to Nu, they had to "protect" themselves by leaving the conference. Also, the word is that texas won't fight Nu too hard because they don't want any "dirty laundry" to come out in court.

Re: Is thre any update on payouts from NU and CU?

I thought that Nebraska fight with the payouts had to do with the fact that they did not harm the Big 12 financially. I think the buyouts were to offset any harm that would happen if a team left the conference. Since the Big 12 had secure commitments from the television contracts saying they would not change their payout, the Big 12 is not being hurt by the departure. I think that's the fight.

If the contract/buyout clause is more simple than that, and simply lists the rule and amount, I would think Neb would have a hard row to hoe.

I'm not worried about it. ISU will see little to non of the payout.

It will probably be a settlement of less than actually owed.
The balance will go to AA&M, TU and OU as their $20 million guaruntee as ISU suggested and promised.
ISU will make money later on, but not on this portion.

I thought that Texas and Oklahoma turned down the 20 mil guarantee but A&M really, really wants it. I'm sure that Texas and Oklahoma will always be at the top of the revenue distribution just because they have that history. However A&M seems to be slipping and is still trying to maintain their position of power.

They took the $20 mill to stay out of SEC, so I think they will take the money, you are correct on TU and OU.

Isn't aTm in a world of hurt financially? I thought I heard they were in debt something like 16 million dollars? Looks like they took out quite the loan to stay afloat.

I also heard they were talking about selling mineral rights they own to help pay on the loan too.

This. Those bastards nearly caused the death of 5 athletic departments being ISU, KSU, Kansas, Baylor, and Mizzou. It is time for payback and NU and CU better get out their checkbooks.
