    Fontenot to the Giants

for A Ball CF Evan Crawford. Didn't see anything on this posted. Must be weird to get traded and just have to walk across the field to the other dugout.

    Re: Fontenot to the Giants

Reinteria just went back on the DL (third time this year), so this makes sense. I have heard good things about Crawford. The guy is supposed to be crazy fast. Unproven as he has only been in A ball...

I don't think Fontenot is a game changer for any team, just a stop-gap fill in while the Giants are in a spot where they need a reasonable platoon replacement for the rest of the season.

    Re: Fontenot to the Giants

Fontenot is a little guy with occasional pop. Pretty evident he's not a consistent hitter. Hopefully DeWitt is. Baker is a utility player.

There's 1 40 man spot open that I was talking about in another thread. I would hope Nady and Baker will be moved or cut at some point so they have a spot for Snyder or LaHair.

With Theriot and Fontenot both gone, I think the Cubs might hold on to Baker. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nady gone, though.

    Re: Fontenot to the Giants

There has to be an AL team that could DH Nady. He's a formidable bench bat, he just can't throw.

I hated Fontenot and am glad he's gone. Our obsession with him b/c he was left-handed was beyond me. If he can't hit anything does it matter where he stands?

I'm not getting real warm feelings about DeWitt so far. He's slow, little pop, and managed to drop a popup at the game the other day. He's probably your starting 2B next year though, unless Barney impresses.
