    Flood's effects on team chemistry

All of this flooding really stinks for everyone in central Iowa. But watching the videos of Rhoads and Parker, I can't help but think that this whole experience is galvanizing the team and making everyone much tougher mentally. The cohesiveness that an experience like this can build will really pay off when game time rolls around. Most importantly, it sounds like we have a pretty good group of young men who are willing to do what it takes when adversity strikes, no questions asked.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

I think it gives them a sense of community. You want to protect your home and the people around you.
In all of this unfortunate flooding you will see complete strangers helping other complete strangers and that shows a great team coming together.
I feel good about Iowans in all of this, we are strong, we will persevere.

I think you're over analyzing, but it will make for good stories years down the road.

Hopefully they rally around this and come closer as a team through the problems being faced. On a side note, in that video I thought it was neat that Parker mentioned more than once that they are thinking and praying about the community and those affected. Pretty mature thing to say.

or iowa state wants to get good publicity so they essentially force them to go do it.

all professional and college teams do this.

The 1993-1994 season was not a very good one for ISU MBB, after the last flood.

Re: Flood's effects on team chemistry

This is something I have been thinking about as well, and I certainly think it can be a catalyst to bring this team closer together before the year begins. There are things each year that either do that, or divide teams. This is pretty much a given each year.

This is the sort of thing that forces you, at an early stage, to focus on one thing, as a unit.

life's a real bummer for you huh Marc?

I'm gonna say that most of these guys that are "essentially forced" would do so even if they were "just asked".

    Marc's a winner

I'm sure that they spent more time considering the PR value as opposed to asking the guys to help since they were right there and able-bodied.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

I had a big response typed out, but remembered that you pretty much just like to dump on everything so I'm giving you one sentence instead. Enjoy your poop sandwich.

am i saying its a bad thing? no, but you acting like its something a lot more than it is. The city flooded, its good PR to help, so they do. Thats all. If i was back in ames right now i would be helping as well, its not that big of a deal.

make people tougher mentally? its sandbagging
