Re: UI Offers ISU Assistance with Flooding

Nice article. However, it looks like the editor took the day off.

"On behalf of the University of Iowa, Heater officed to give ISU advices, assistance, equipment and personnel if needed to help with their flood situation."

    offered?
    advice?

Re: UI Offers ISU Assistance with Flooding

I remember when Iowa City was flooded there were people on this board laughing at the fact and hoping that Carver Hawkeye would be in trouble.

Things like this go far beyond some stupid rivalry between schools and their fans. When people and proeprty are affected this should be the last thing on anybody's mind. It's nice to see somebody with the knowledge, equiptment and manpower offer to help where it's needed.

Yeah - I think on that comment alone we respectfully and thankfully decline.

Nice offer... but that is too funny.

He didn't say what they would use the sandbags for...sandbagging? Who knows?

I saw that too.. We would send pumps, particularly for making noise and using gas.

Seems like the state U's are spending more time below water than above it. Issue students wetsuits and move on, I say.

Or at least roll with it and start offering some more marine-esque majors.

Trying to decide which I would have liked more - A little help in getting into the Big 10, or a chance to borrow their pumps.

Let's face it...unless the Big 10 was making the jump to 16 teams, there's no way ISU would have made it in. The Big 10's after the money, and most importantly the TV markets. If it can't have ND, it'll take teams like Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas before taking another team from Iowa.

Anyway, I'm sure Iowa's got plenty of equipment left after the '08 floods. Probably not doing too much good sitting in some parking lot or warehouse somewhere.

    EDIT:
Also, lol @ "...pumps, particularly for pumping..."

Wow. We are so Clone that we would turn down assistance just because it came from Iowa City? I guess we are just all-that.
