    Your National Title dark horses...

Who do you guys think are teams that currently reside outside the Top 10 that have a decent shot at the national title?

    1) Pitt. Think Iowa with a slightly weaker defense and more explosive offense. Tough row to hoe with away games at Utah, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, USF, and UConn. With Dion Lewis to grind the clock and a huge deep play threat in Jon Baldwin their offense can look pretty scary at times.

    2) UNC. Everyone seems to peg them as a surprise team, but when you look at their defense, it's easy to see why. If they get past tough non-conference dates vs. LSU and @ Rutgers, I think they have a great chance to run the table in the ACC. They Georgia Tech early in the year, and I think they've been watching plenty of Orange Bowl tape. With a line that might even exceed Iowa's, in terms of NFL talent, I'm looking for the heels to topple Tech early and get a good start on the ACC crown, and maybe more.

    3) Oregon State. The Pac-10 might be the weakest BCS conference this year. If Oregon State can somehow get past TCU and Boise in the non-conference, LOOK OUT. That's a huge feather in their cap, and quite honestly, the best teams on their schedule. Crazy stuff happens early in the season, and this might be a bit of stretch to take out the unquestioned best non-BCS teams going into this year, but after that it's all downhill. They have QB questions (like Pitt) but have some serious playmakers in the Rodgers Bros.

I could see UNC making noise. Their defense is the best in the nation.

Iowa State, if they can run the table with their schedule - no doubt they are number 1!!!!

It's funny because I could see all 3 of those teams going unbeaten and still not playing for a national title this year. Any unbeaten Big 10 or SEC team would get in over them, especially if its Ohio State and Alabama. Id also say an unbeaten Nebraska would also get in over those 3 teams. Ugh, another year of fans begging for playoffs....and rightfully so.

I could see almost every single BCS conference producing an undefeated team this year. That would cause a total cluster****.

Sort of like the opposite of 2007, where you had West Virginia and Mizzou both only needing 1 rivalry win at the end of the year to play for the National Title (Yeah, a 1 loss Big East team was a LOCK for the title) and they both lose.

If Arkansas get's past Alabama in September (game is in Fayetteville) I could see them making a run at it. Ryan Mallet is the real deal, and they may have the best set of receivers in the SEC if not the country.

I can't stand Arkansas fans living here, and am not a fan of the team by any means, but if their defense can improve from last season, they may be able to pull off the unthinkable as their offense and potential is that good.

    Nebraska and Iowa - NOT

Last Night, Nebraska talk show asked "if you had magical powers, would you accept an 11-1 season, Today". He thinks that Nebraska is capable of 12-0 so he would not take a guaranteed 11-1. Can you Say "Over Inflated Expectations".

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

I would pick a team with an actual defense.

OU isn't getting much attention but if they can get past UT, they can run the table and slip into the MNC game.

Younger players at key positions got valuable experience last year with all the injuries, and they still managed to beat a solid Standford team in the Sun Bowl.

They are typically toe to toe with Texas in recruiting so they definitely have the horses to make a run. Depsite his "Big Game" sarcastic moniker, Bob Stoops is a great coach and will have OU back in the upper echelon.

Elsewhere: I could see Wisconsin beating Ohio State at home which would set up a huge game in Iowa City. After that they could certainly run the table. They have an incredible line and great playmakers in John Clay and Scott Tolzien on offense. I'm not sold on the defense though. (I will be at the Ohio State game)

They do have a defense, they even usually put 11 guys out their at a time too.

i honestly think iowa and nebraska could be in the hunt. I won't pick them as a dark horse, but neb could go 11-1 and iowa could be the same. iowa is a better team, but nebraska has a pretty darn weak schedule. I can see how brian greise picked them as 11-1. Iowa, they are always tough to predict. It seems like when they have really high expectations, they don't measure up-- and vice versa.

I really agree with Pitt, the Big East is theres for the taking and they have a couple marquee games that media will hype up. They just really need another one of the BE contenders like WV, Cincy, USF etc... otherwise people will be all to quick to cast them aside.
