Is Alexander Robinson the most underrated player in the nation?

Right now, he's the best RB in the state, and definitely one of the best in the Big XII. But outside of Iowa, it seems like he's relatively unknown.

    Thoughts?

He will be a household name by the time the season is over.

Agree. Nobody knows him. If he plays well at Iowa, and we win that game....oh, people will know him.

I think you are on to something. I will go out on a limb and say he will be the best RB in the Big12 this year and I wouldnt be shocked to see his name thrown out for some major awards come seasons end.

For that to be true he would need to rush for 1600+ yds or we will have to be 9-3 IMO. I don't see either happening but I hope I am wrong!!

As for most underrated? Maybe. He is very good. Still need him to make it thru a whole season before he can garner some recognition like he deserves. His health is HUGE for us

Are you thinking the Doak Walker award...or even bigger...?

Hope he can stay healthy. Plus, if he is a major reason we pull off a big upset win on the national stage against certain opponets: see Iowa, Utah, Nebraska, Missouri... he could get some major props nationally.

If you are not already on the watch list for that bigger award before the season starts, you had better walk on water or you will have next to no chance when they decide it.

I am thinking possibly Doak. Anytime you are the #1 back in a conference, no matter what conference your name will get thrown out there for those. Especially if you are #1 in the B12. Heisman is a pipe dream, but it is a nice pipe dream.

    I agree with your assessment.

I know he isn't on the watch list, but if he is instrumental in ISU pulling off a national upset, he will at least get noticed.

Re: Is Alexander Robinson the most underrated player in the nation?

Troy Davis had back-to-back 2,000 yard seasons, and never won a single major award. I put the odds of A-Rob bringing home any serious hardware this year at just under 0.01% - and that's not a knock on A-Rob, just that he doesn't play on a popular team, so he won't get nearly the attention as other "big name backs."

Side note: how the **** does Byron Hanspard win the Doak Walker Award in 1996 over TD? What a joke.

Most underrated in the Big 12? Definitely. In the nation? Probably not. Honestly, that's probably Clayborn. Not sure he gets much press as an individual outside the State.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

    that's because he plays defense.

only Charles Woodson has broken through the glass ceiling of playing defense before the NFL draft in my lifetime.

Because Byron played for a Texas team and Texas takes care of its own.

    Truth.

At the time everyone who complained about that was reminded that the award panel looked at more than just the on the field accomplishments. So I was pretty sure that Hanspards 0.00 GPA was what put him over the top.

Playing on a Texas team, competing for an award decided by a panel in Texas had nothing to do with it!
