    Tether feature via Droid

Anyone have experience using the tether feature on their Droid? How did it work and was it easy to set up? How was the speed? Which application did you use?

I believe that in the 2.2 Android update there will be tethering built-in. Right now I use PdaNet which is very easy to use. The speed is obviously dependent on your connection but it works rather well for me.

If you use a nonverizon app, do you still have to pay for the higher data plan?

I also use pdanet with my droid. Works well and is easy to setup.

Are you able to go to https after 30 days.I.e free trial expires. Does Verizon charge you? Also I was wondering about security with this method.

    Thanks

Not sure on security, but I have witnessed no adverse affects and have been using in for ~30 days. Verizon does not charge. I've had it over 30 days and it's still going strong. You can also tether without a USB using bluetooth. Got it to work once, but now my computer won't pair with my Droid.

I ended up buying the full pdanet version. It was like $17 a license, which allows https.
