    Dr. Saturday on K-State

He tells us what we already know... the Cats will need to feed the ball to Thomas 30 times a game if they hope to score any points.

Arms races: K-State's Coffman climbs back on the horse, for now - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports

To begin with, there's no use pretending the Wildcats have much to expect from the passing game, regardless of the specific arm(s) in question. As a team, they finished last in the conference last year in yards per game through the air, were near the bottom in efficiency and passed for all of five touchdowns against I-A defenses.

What good did come from airing it out was largely the work of a group that's entirely left the building, namely senior quarterback Grant Gregory, who wrested the starting job from Coffman at the start of Big 12 play, along with senior receivers Brandon Banks, Attrail Snipes and Lamark Brown and All-Big 12 tight end Jeron Mastrud. Those four accounted for more than three-fourths of KSU's receiving yards, most of those from the diminutive Banks, whose extracurricular work as the league's most dangerous kick returner helped to establish him as the Wildcats' de facto big-play threat and lead the conference in all-purpose yards.

With almost no significant experience at receiver or quarterback and All-Big 12 workhorse Daniel Thomas plugging away behind four returning starters on the offensive line, whoever wins the job will spend most of the time in conservative "game manager" mode.

Their RB might be the best in the Big 12.

Their running back would be the first drafted out of the Big 12. I don't know if he is better in his system than ARob though. Tough to say.

    Re: Dr. Saturday on K-State

There is no doubt that Thomas is a great running back, but K-State will have a tough time finding anyone else to generate any offense.

How many defenders will opponents put in the box to stop him... 8? 9?

I hope that our young but strong LB's can help out the D-line to stop Thomas in this season's game. Our D must slow him down. Time for payback Cyclones.

Daniel Thomas is a great back but A-ROB is more consistent.

Our WR's will be even better than last season. Brodrick Smith, a transfer from Minnesota, is a beast and will be better than anyone ISU has. We also have Chris Harper and Aubrey Quarles. Both were 4 star recruits; Quarles is from JUCO and Harper is a transfer from Oregon. We also have the best RB in the Big 12. However, our QB's are unproven. If Coffman can limit turnovers then our offense should be fine.

    Re: Dr. Saturday on K-State

Snyder had K-State playing better every week. By the end of the year they looked much better than they did earlier. They won't be the teams that Snyder had when he was at his best, I don't see that happening again. Just too many other teams spending money on football now. But I do think they will be better than people think and I think they beat Nebraska this year in Manhattan.

Based on your post, I just did a bit of research. Smith and Harper both sound like good players. Dang... maybe you guys won't be as desolate at WR as I originally hoped.

What's the word on the QB situation.... Coffman's job to lose? Any chance of seeing Lamur?

    Re: Dr. Saturday on K-State

Lamark Brown, a frequent starter at wide receiver, left the squad after spring ball. He was buried deep on the depth chart. I have not seen the young receivers play one snap but they must be pretty decent or Brown would not have left to play his senior year elsewhere.

Brodrick has been impressive this offseason in practice. He also had 167 yards recieving yards and 4 TD's in the spring game. He will be our #1 receiver and I think he will have an impressive season.
