Glad to hear it's pretty packed. I wish I could've gone. It's good to see these bands that get ZERO airplay in Des Moines still play shows here and pack 'em in.

Just drove by Val Air and the place looked pretty packed. I was wondering who was playing since the marque board didn't have anything on it.

'Airplay' has zero to do with a bands success. The music scene has zero to do with what you hear on the radio as well. It has very little to do with the Black Keys as well.

it depends on what you listen to. i never listen to FM radio anymore. in my car i listen to satellite radio, usually Alt Nation. Then when at the office i listen to either Pandora or my own music.

So what exactly do The Black Keys have to do with?

I think they have to do with rock and roll because they straight up rocked the house tonight. Man those two can play!!! For the small, hot, crappy venue, amazing sound. They vocals were crisp, the guitars were loud and the drums shook my chest. What a great show. Its a shame it took me this long to finally see them!

I was there too. It was so hot. I thought the Val Aire had AC, what was the deal with that? Crowd was great. Had a really good time, and the band rocked hard.

Re: Black Keys in Des Moines

I was told that the AC was out when we got there to put up banner, etc...It was around 5p and usually it's a meat locker in there pre-show...yesterday it was around 80 degrees....yeesh.

They put on a great show, not the best I've seen them do but the crowd more than made up for that. With the billion degree heat inside, the crowd was racous and wild which impressed the hell out of me. Kudos, Iowa.
