Is this the old ISU fan in me?

I am glad we aren't the trendy/popular team like Iowa that we sell out all our games?

Is it just me or are there others that are used to sparse games and fine with it?

Maybe I feel a more special bond with the 25.000 other fans that are sitting in Trice in the cold on a November Saturday rather than fighting traffic to watch a team like Iowa in a crowd where I feel no bond with the team or fans?

I know all you haters will claim money and power, but maybe I just dont care about that stuff... Is it so bad being the permanent underdog?

Always being the underdog is wearing very thin on me anymore. It's nice to see our teams performing successfully on the field for once in my life. MBB will come back, I know it in my bones.

Don't come and whine when we get sent to a lesser conference if we keep playing the "underdog." And yes, you are basically alone when you say you like it. What is good about having a half full stadium? What is good about being stuck in a situation that has the people in power not wanting to upgrade the stadium? I don't get it.

I know it's not just me that wants and expects more.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Re: Is this the old ISU fan in me?

I don't mind being an underdog, but I think it is foolish to hope for anything but sellouts. More support and attendance means higher revenue from various streams (game-day, merchandise, donations), which potentially results in a better product on the field. It's a continual cycle that can only boost Iowa State's success.

To me, a fan hoping Iowa State doesn't become popular enough to continually sell out crowds is like an indie music fan hoping their favorite act doesn't receive radio play. Just be happy that it is benefiting the team/artist, and likely results in the longevity of the product and your ability to enjoy it.

Your OP suggests you don't expect or want ISU to be successful. I'm sorry if I misunderstood it.

How can anybody remember the Jim Walden days as the good old days? My advice would be to attend some 8-man games this year. You can form an even greater bond with 4-500 people!

did not say walden was the good old days

i know many fans that I tailgate with that feel the same way as me, we enjoy ISU the way it is and don't need 70,000 fan sellouts to prove our fanaticism....

Better recruits want better facilities, if butts are not in seats, we get no better facilities.

Yeah, I understand that, and I am fine with that (obviously, being a donor and a season ticket holder, I play that game.)
