    Texas thin at QB

hearing some rumblings....Sherrod Harris who is the senior backup QB at Texas is quiting football. You'd think Texas has 5 star QB stockpiled but they don't....big time QB success in actuality can bite a team in the ***.

--Texas brought in two this year....Conner Wood and Case McCoy, the skinny (as in 6-2, 180) younger brother of Colt. They're true freshmen, of course.
--Last year Texas brought in one QB, Garrett Gilbert.
--Texas did not sign a QB in 2008.
--In 2007 Texas signed John Chiles and GJ Kinne both of whom got tired of languishing on the bench behind Colt. Chiles moved to WR and Kinne transferred to Tulsa.

So I guess you could say that Texas has, in part, been a victim of its own success. Colt was so good he discouraged Kinne, Chiles and all of the 2008 prospects.

Ohio State has been in the same boat, and nobody of note wanted to sit behind Pryor for 2-3 years.

Yep, the 85 scholarship cap is a lot of the reason. That, and yeah, who wants to ride the pine behind super talented QBs?!

Not getting a QB in 2008....I wonder if thats the year Snead transfered and they couldn't fill a spot with a QB at the time on short notice. A RS 08 guy would be a sophomore now.

Just goes to show that you have to have a QB brought in each year, and sometimes 2 even if the situation looks good at the moment.

And you know what? Unless Gilbert gets hurt, Texas will be an undefeated or one loss team when BCS time rolls around. It doesn't matter because they are just that damn good.
