    Chizik vs GMac

Who did more harm to their respective programs. I vote for GMac, as he couldn't do much of anything right and he was here way too long. At least Chizik could recruit and was replacing his coordinators. AND His one real recruiting class is all over this year's 2 deeps. My perception is GMac will get the nod here because he was "one of us"...Yet, I still cannot figure out the hatred for GC unless it is driven by his defection for his a dream job which I don't blame him for one bit. Thoughts?

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

Just like like Lickliter in Iowa City, GMac refused to make any changes to his style of play despite the obvious futility of said style. His complete lack of adaptability to a major conference style of play did him in. It also didn't help that he alienated many of the players with his "I'm the boss and if you don't like it too bad" attitude. The number of transfers and defections show this.

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

GMac is a MUCH more likeable guy, but I'd agree and say he did more harm than GC.

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

GMac easily did more harm. Chizik was adapting and took a few years to realize winning is not the same formula everywhere. Not sure GMac has yet to learn that.

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

Its too early to tell at this point.
We have had a post-Chizik season already. We havent had a post-GMac season.
The success Rhoads is enjoying makes Chizik not seem so bad.

well McDermott was here longer to do more damage. but if you look at quality of a head coach GMcD wins.

Can we just please move on past this.

GMac did more harm, but Chizik is a *****. At least GMac is an Iowan, Chizik is a reverse carpetbagger.

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

other than 2 years of poor football I'm not sure Chizik damaged the program. GMac butchered the program so badly that a life long Clone fan and top recruit in the country left town. Three players from last year's team returned, two had burned their red shirts and the other a Senior. Only positive is a BB team can be rebuild with 1 good class or 2 if you have to start from scratch like CFH.

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

probably gmac, but chizik probably put a worse image for the program because he went 5-17 and everyone heard that on espn once he was hired. gmac was just medicore and he did get a 1st round draft pick out, so an outsiders view would say chizik, but it's probably gmac

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

I blame Pollard for bringing in two coaches that were hell-bent on purposely destroying ISU athletics.

Which begs the question - what does Jamie Pollard have against ISU?

    Re: Chizik vs GMac

GMac is the correct answer. Unless a small miracle occurs and we land the postseason in hoops this year.

Besides the famous phrase "firmly entrenched" their exits were equally selfish and classless IMO. The only difference being we were as relieved as Greg when he found another job.
