Ten Truths About The Big 12

...from Hunter Ansley of Fox Sports Southwest.

    Some that are interesting:

Texas Tech will beat Texas on September 18 (and Tommy Tubberville will break out his "victory cigar").
Cody Hawkins will end up starting at Colorado (if he is correct on this one, it certainly is great news for all of the Buffaloes 2010 opponents).
Mike Gundy will end up getting fired at Oklahoma State.
Kansas State will be back in a bowl game (heaven help us all).

Why the hell would OSU fire Gundy?

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Because Boone wanted him to smoke stogies.

That program majorly under acheived the last few years with Zac Robinson, Dez Bryant and company and now an uncertain rebuilding begings with Okie St returning only 12 starters (4 on defense) in 2010.

For all of the money that Boone Pickens has put into the program, they have nothing to show for it. Because of the rebuilding and a new OC coming in, Gundy may not be fired this year, but depending on how this season goes, his seat in 2011 could be just as hot as the seat Hawkins is on this year.

After their rather pathetic showing in the Cotton Bowl last year and the meltdown they had in the Holiday Bowl the year before, with the fact that they are going to struggle this year (IMO), it would not surprise me at all...

Please. It's not like they were once a powerhouse. They didn't have Bryant last year. It's not like Nebraska where you still have a building point. They still fight us for recruits more than they fight the OUs and UTs of the world. If they fire Gundy, good luck. He will end up somewhere with a much greater starting point than what he had before and he will be successful.

I hear ya but they're freaking Oklahoma State. One of 2-3 teams (until recently) that we'd always be able to pound in Ames. They've never been a powerhouse and will never be more than a 7-9 win team with an occasional 10 win season sprinkled in. That's pretty good for them.

I don't disagree with anything you said. But what T. Boone Pickens wants, he will get, and it would not surprise me at all if he demands competition at the level of OU and Texas each year with the money he has dumped into that program.

    10. However, Nebraska will skate through the North division
And they’ll steal one of the spots as they wave goodbye to the Big 12 from behind the championship trophy after beating OU in the Big 12 title game. Bo Pelini’s defense will miss Ndamukong Suh, but the Cornhuskers will take a major step forward offensively and still smother opponents with more of a team effort.

What in the world would lead him to believe that Nebby's offense will take a major step forward? Just curious.

I guess I don't understand all of the Tommy Tuberville love. Seriously his Auburn teams got worse every year. Tech won because they had a freaky offense everyone had to get ready for.

Tuberville's problem late at in his tenure at Auburn was that he kept messing around with the offense.

Under Tuberville, The Tech offense isn't going to change much, if at all (spread OC coming in from Troy (name escapes me) and former Tech QB Kliff Kingsbury as co-OC and QB's coach who knows Leach's system), that's why with Tuberville's defensive background, they are a very underrated team and could be sneaky good in 2010.

Edit: Turns out another former Tech QB, Sonny Cumbie is on Tubberville's offensive staff as well.

Exactly. They are returning a ton of starters as well.
