    Des Moines Area - Television/Internet

Has anyone else set these up recently in the DSM area?

It looks like mediacom's currently at $20 installation fee with $79.90/month for TV/Internet with an HD receiver for 12 months, then $99.90 for another 12 months for the 2 year contract... i remember a couple years ago it was $70 for the first 12 months with no contract required; where'd the contract come from?

Qwest + Dish/Directv doesn't seem to be much better... I can get both for about $70-$80, but Qwest wants $100 for their modem and another $20 to set it up, and their promo rate ends after 6 months.

How do I go about getting decent internet and tv (local channels/espn is probably 90% of what i watch) on the cheap?

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams

I'd like to, but it looks like they're winning out at the moment

I have mediacom because of the bundling. We get the high speed internet and cable with HD receiver AND DVR for 98 bucks a month. You should call mediacom and tell them you're going to go with a dish unless they give you a better promotion.

I have switched back and forth several times to get the promo pricing. I doubt my family will let me switch back to Mediacom again because of the constant outages and having to reset the modem at least weekly.

I don't have to reset it too often, maybe once a month.

I was planning on switching back and forth as well, but i wasn't expecting everyone to require a 2 year contract to get a decent price
