    We have an awesome AD!

I was a JP fan before this week, and he just reinforced one of the reasons I think he is a great AD: he's extremely responsive to the fans.

I recently became acquainted with three new Iowans who just moved here from the east coast. All are in the their 20s and settling in to great jobs that could keep them here awhile. Eventually in our discussions I learned that a couple of them were college football fans and grads of a B10 school not named Iowa.

Seeing an opportunity, I welcomed them to jump on the ISU bandwagon so they have an in-state team to cheer for, and invited them to join our tailgate this Fall and take in some football games. They responded favorably to my invite, so I decided to send a note to JP.

I gave him a little background on our new fellow Iowans, and said that they had welcomed the invite to jump on the ISU bandwagon. I told him I didn't know what the department would be willing to do, but that I was sure they would appreciate a small "welcome" gesture from Iowa State if there was precedent for doing such things.

Jamie responded quickly, as always, and said he put a note in the mail for them. (I asked that it be sent to me as they haven't yet secured permanent housing.) I was thrilled and thanked him. Well, today I received the "note", which was actually a package. The package did include a handwritten note (which is all I expected), some schedule magnets, some ticket brochures and such, AND about $60 in brand new ISU caps!!

I was floored. One hat for each of the two guys and visor for the gal in the group! I CAN'T WAIT to deliver that package tomorrow! JP gets it in so many ways, and I hope we can keep him around for a long time.

Re: We have an awesome AD!

We do have one of the best in the business, IMO. It may be taking a little longer than some may like to achieve the successes and national attention we all long for, but I think we're definately headed in the right direction. A solid, well-built foundation has a much better chance to stand the test of time.

JP cares not only about the wins and losses, which is ultimately what he is judged on, but about ISU, it's fans, and academics. He sees the whole picture.

Hats off to a job very well done!!

But seriously, that's freaking awesome. JP is the man, and totally "gets it". Those folks are gonna be Clone fans for sure. And they haven't even made the tailgate yet!

Re: We have an awesome AD!

Funny little story that supports the accessibility of Mr. Pollard. My Credit Card company had a little security breach, so I was issued a new card. The old # is the one I had on file with the ticket office for my season tickets, which forgot to update. When they processed my July charge it was obviously declined and the ticket office contacted me to collect.. They left a message with my wife, which she relayed to me at work.

I called the number, and asked to speak with "Jamie" - which was the name that my wife gave me. The lady who answered responded - 'Mr. Pollard is currently on the phone, would you like to speak with his assistant, or hold.'

I laughed and told her I appreciated Jamie's accessibility, but I doubted he was the person I should be talking to to get my CC # updated. Turns out my wife had the wrong name it was something like Julie.

Just wish he wasn't on the phone at the time I called.
