    Division Champs

How are the division champs determined in the Big 12? Is it your in-division record or in-conference record? I assume it's conference due to all the low rankings, because honestly I don't think our record against the North will be all that bad.

Divisional games carry no more weight than non-divisional games.

Champ is determined by overall conference record. I believe a teams divisional record is the first tiebreaker though.

That's what I thought. That's a shame, because I could see us upsetting Nebby again and sneak past them into the championship game with both of us having a 4-1 division record. I don't think we'll be able to match conference records unless a lot of "if's" fall into place.

It's the second tie-break, isn't it? After head to head?

Not head-to-head? That kind of surprises me.

Maybe after head to head. It would only be relevant in a three way tie, as head to head is always available for determining divisional winner.

    First tie-breaker is head-to-head. See 2004.

    Here are the official rules:

Tiebreaker Procedures - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

I believe that UT-OU-Tech made it to #5 a couple years ago to decide the South winner.

    Re: Division Champs

Okay guys here you go for all your viewing pleasure:

Divisional Champion: The (eligible) team with the best winning-percentage of all divisional members in its eight conference games is declared the divisional champion and representative to the Dr Pepper Big 12 Conference Football Championship Game. A team ineligible under NCAA or Big 12 rules for postseason (bowl) competition shall not compete in the Championship Game.
Divisional Tiebreakers: The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

    1. If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative
    2. If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

      1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
      2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division
      3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6)
      4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
      5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big 12 Championship Game, unless two of the tied teams are ranked within one spot of the other in the BCS poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big 12 Championship Game.
      6. The team with the best overall winning percentage (excluding exempted games) shall be the representative.
      7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

    What exactly does 2.1 mean?

The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
    Overall record including non-con?

    Re: Division Champs

So technically, the first tiebreaker is if a team is eligible for postseason play.

Head-to-head between all 3 teams. It's possible that one team could be 2-0 against the other 2, but lost to someone outside of the 3 teams that are tied, while the other two were 1-1 in the head-to-head.
