    Visited the Campus today...

First time there, and I absolutely loved it.
People were friendly, the campus was beautiful, and the atmosphere overall was terrific.
Saw JT and Hilton for the first time in person, and they looked great.

My parents are trying to swing me back into their alma mater at Minnesota, but i feel like this is were its gotta be.

Picked up a nice "Proud to be one" t-shirt on the way out, so hopefully i've sealed the deal!

After talking to friends that went to U of M I was so glad I didn't follow in my dad's footsteps there. Too big of campus, blends too much into the rest of the city, no sense of community to the campus. Basically the complete opposite of ISU. You're making the right choice buddy.

Sounds like you've made up your mind. If the fit feels right, then that's going to be your best choice.

Growing up in Iowa I was always looking to get out and go somewhere more exciting, but after looking into schools in Boston, New York, and Chicago, I couldn't help but be drawn in my the community atmosphere of ISU. I definitely never regret that choice.

Awesome. Did you have the guided tour? My son was scheduled for his a couple of weeks ago, but we had to re-schedule. BTW, we were both on vacation in Minnesota during the 4th. Surprisingly, no one commented on our Cyclone shirts.

Yes, we went for the Honors option, advisor (math major), and financial aid (parents) / campus tour

You'll find ISU is where it's at. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

The campus is very nice and connected. Having the town down the road helps to make the campus feel like it is by itself. I believe that is good.

I had the U of M in my last 3 as well, but didnt like the "cityness" of that campus either. Just curious how you got into the Cyclones since your parents went to the U of M and you're from Rochester. Congrats though!

Don't know how people decide to go to some other college once they step foot on the campus.

Wanted to stay "home" so it was Dakotas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minny.

Wanted athletics i could get excited for (D1 atleast), along with academics, so i dropped dakotas.

Grew up a gopher fan, so i couldn't go Wisconsin or Iowa.

ISU vs Minn. The size of campus and student pop. size made me choose ISU.

Granted I still am making a visit to UM and two small lutheran colleges in Minnesota, but I have it set in my mind i'm goin to a public school, and ISU is hard to resist.

On a separate note, does any one know the price of a full season pass to Veenker? What kind of deal do they cut the students?

    Veenker Golf Course - Rates

Looks like $660 for a whole season. Not a golfer, so I don't know how that stacks up.

    Re: Visited the Campus today...

660 isn't too much more than my current rate, and its so much nicer of a course.

Don't want to rile people up too much but how bout a good wels/els lutheran church in the area...Thats my parents (and my) one negative at this point.

    Re: Visited the Campus today...

My brother went to ISU for 4 years and loved it. After he graduated he went to UM to further his studies and I think he liked it there, but there was one difference. While he was at UM he and a female classmate of his were walking to the parking lot after class at night and 2 guys came up behind them and held knives to their throats and mugged them. They wer'nt hurt but it kind of shows the difference of a big city college and a mid sized city college.
