    ISU 2010 FB game-by-game, with scores

    I suppose we're close enough to the opener for a barrage of these threads.

    Northern Illinois, W, 34-24
    @Iowa, L, 27-10
    v. Kansas State, W, 27-24
    Northern Iowa, W, 37-13
    Texas Tech, L, 42-20
    Utah, L, 31-27
    @Oklahoma, L, 38-13
    @Texas, L, 35-14
    Kansas, W, 40-28
    Nebraska, L, 28-18
    @Colorado, W, 31-17
    Missouri, L, 38-24

    5-7 (3-5)

    Quick notes:

    * ISU should get a decent jump vs. NIU, but the score will get too close for comfort in the second half

    * Biggest “Shoulda”: Utah (KSU will qualify as the opposite)

    * Biggest “Coulda”: Missouri, followed by Nebraska – both winnable, but too many opportunities squandered.

    Last season, I wildly overestimated the combined point totals in most games. I might have gone too much the other way this time — but who knows.

    Fire away!

    I hope as well. These two games you mentioned will basically decide whether or not Iowa State goes bowling this season.

    If we get to the last game of the season at 5-6 with a home game against Missouri, I like our chances to go to a bowl, assuming we are pretty healthy at that point. Pretty fair breakdown though.

    I agree with about all but I think we will beat ONE of Mizzou, Utah, and TT

    If I had to pick a W out of these three games, I would agree.

    I think Mizzou is the least likely. I expect them to be pretty solid this year. I think TT could miss a step or two with the coaching change.

    Re: ISU 2010 FB game-by-game, with scores

    At this point I'm really concerned about Northern Illinois. I'm not even sure I'd pick us to win that one right now, with how green our defense should be. And if we don't it could be hard to get anything positive going at any point of the season.

    I think we will need the offense to be significantly better than last year (at least 7 ppg better), and the defense needs to give up significantly fewer yards than last year. I say the latter because I can't believe that we're going to be as fortunate with our red zone defense this year, so we're going to need to do a better job of keeping the other team out of the red zone.

    At this point, I'm afraid that it is wishful thinking that both of those will occur. I'm not even sure either of those will occur.

    If Tech does beat us, I don't see the score being that lopsided.

    Yeah....let's just have a sound opener at this point. I want a strong running attack over that NIU D-Line and a healthy lead going into the half.

    Defensively....more of the same...find a way to cause turnovers and keep THEM thinking out there. Find a way to stop drives.... I want our squad with at least a 2-3 score victory heading into game 2.

    I think I have a little higher expectation than this.
    I say we somehow get two more wins and cause some shock in the football world.

    i hope they don't lose 4 home games or i am going to sell my tickets now!

    They beat Utah, they beat Tech, they beat Nebraksa. Depending on health, they may win the season finale to win their 8 or 9th game!
